LOL, my first posting here and it's going to be about a major Oops I've committed.

My worst mistake was promising something that didn't get delivered on time. Being a little bit late may not sound like a major mistake, but trust me it was.

To put my oops into context, I have a site that caters to a large community of artists and for several years I received requests every now and then from members for a specific feature to be added on my site.

It was a pretty major thing to get put together from a programming standpoint so I kind of put off the requests for as long as I could, but finally I realized that it wasn't a luxury feature anymore but rather had become a necessity I needed to add if I wanted to keep the community happy and growing so I gave in.

When the programming was almost completed I announced to the community that the feature was being added and would go live on a specific date. I gave myself a few extra weeks cushion beyond what was needed to finish the coding so wasn't concerned at all about announcing the launch date.

Until a week before the date when I and a partner were doing some final bug testing and realized there was a major issue in the programming that could be exposed by members of the community which would violate the privacy policy that had always existed on our site.

It wasn't anything outrageous, and nobody's vital personal information was at risk. However, certain information that had been entrusted to us under our long standing privacy policy could be exposed to fellow community members, and since some of that included details of people who were no longer active in the community it wouldn't have been fair for us to simply rewrite the privacy policy to accommodate the issue.

To wrap this up we had to delay the launching in order to address this with additional modifications to the coding and despite the fact that we did it to protect our members, it upset a bunch of them enough that they left.

So, a big lesson was learned and I'll never announce anything like that again until after it's completed and has been through the full bug testing process.

I got involved with Google Adwords and was "Ass raped" to put it gently.

I figured "hey i'll just put on my moron hat and just use my Clickbank Affiliate link", Well.. I kept letting it build up and I let an ad run over night.. it did very well.. but then again, I didn't know what I was doing, so I had it linked to a horrible blog.. and let's just say.. I lost $400+ or somewhere close to that of money I didn't have.

AKA: Get to know ADwords before you dive into it and know how to research profitable keywords and make sure the landing page you're promoting on the campaign is worth more than 2 cents.

Here are some mistakes that I've made:

    1. Relying on only one source of revenue. When I first started online, I focused so much only on adsense and saw very little profit. Nowadays I perform much better with affiliate programs.

    2. Trusting any random guy on the web. I have gotten ripped off for a couple hundred dollars by someone at dp. This user even had over 1000 posts and never delivered!

    3. Relating to point 2 above, buying too many crappy ebooks (at dp or wso), thinking that they will be "the" solution. Probably cost me a over a hundred in total as well.

    Mine was TRUSTING A MARKETER:(

She Called me and asked me to make an income video for her where I changed the payments amounts on paypal pages and made them look like the real live paypal page. in return she was going to post an ad for me in usatoday.
Sent her the videos that took me 3 hours to make then the F... B.... never posted the ad or returned my calls.
I could've easily charged her $500 for that. STUPID HASNAA:(
