I have been working on my own sites and client sites. I have always failed to monetize my own projects. I can get them ranking and all that, but just not actually make a profit out of them. I do have some offline ideas, such as listing sites etc, but if I wanted to make a site and fully rely on online income, how would I monetize a site? The things that I know of and have tried: Adsense - tried this with a site, got traffic, made so little money it was funny. Sold this site for pennies. Clickbank - did a site on this too, did not sell a single product. Sold the site for pennies. Now, I'm sure I could actually sell some if I did it smart, such as creating email lists, etc, but that seemed like too much of work in a way too small niche that I did not had that much interest in. Also, the cheques would take 1 month to arrive and 1 month to clean at bank. The wire transfer was very expensive in my country as well. Amazon - I have a review site I created two years ago. It gets traffic daily. Not a single Amazon sale has come from it. CPA - now this is something that I have not tried. What I'm a bit skeptical about is that a CPA offer can close at any moment, what do I do with my site then? I guess I can overcome this by sticking to a niche then? Also, I have heard that my money can get stuck in those CPA networks? What am I missing? What are the real, smart ways to monetize sites? Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for excuses and all that, I'm way past that stage. Just looking for some input on smart ways to monetize a site. By smart I meant something for the long run, where I am actually building an asset for myself and can scale it up to something bigger, as well as eliminate any middle mans. Thanks.
