I plan to spend $500 on YouTube promoting a product through influencers. For those who have done or knew people who did, what's the ROI?

It depends on the niche some clients record 70% some 308%

It depends on the niche.

For example, if you have a YouTube channel dedicated to a very narrow type of problem—maybe it has something to do with insurance or the legal needs of a certain type of business—then your ROI would be higher even if you don’t have that many subscribers and viewers.

This is one of those situations where fewer is better.

A lot of people look at the YouTube influencer game as simply a “big numbers” game—not necessarily.

It’s much better to have, let’s say, a thousand subscribers—with 80% of them being potential eager buyers—than having millions of channel subscribers, with most of them being casual viewers.

It doesn’t even compare because if you have eager buyers that are willing to join your newsletter and are looking forward to your updates so they can learn about something and, possibly, pick up the solution that you're promoting, you have yourself a cash cow.

So you might want to look at YouTube ROI in terms of niche audience targeting as well as how well you can monetize that community.

Think outside of the AdSense box, so to speak.

Well, as blackbeans posted the audience really matters and the engagement ratio also.
If the product is somewhat related to cars, trucks etc. hit me up. I have a youtube channel on racing.

I do also want to spend some money on YT influencers, but I'm stuck with one simple issue, how to find them? How to find influencer with audience of an age and GEO that will fit me?

P.S.
From different sources I understood that I need micro-influencers that cover some specific topics and have 1k-10k subscribers. Another moment is to watch different influencers videos and check if he replies to comments and keep audience engaged.

I had to find mine manually. But the ROI is worth it if you find a goldmine.

Bro, how did you find them? I understand that there's a routine way to check youtube videos with related hashtags manually, but how to know if they have right relevant audience?

One by one, through checking all the channels relevant for every keyword.

The ROI pertaining to promoting your product or service through YouTube influencers differs from person to person (or company to company). It depends on various things such as your profit margin in your product or service, how much you would pay the influencer, how much sales you would actually generate from any particular influencer's video promotion. So, in this particular scenario, one cannot really judge the ROI unless one really takes the dip. But, remember there are Youtubers with lots of real subscribers with lots of real engagements and still those Youtubers do not consider themselves as influencers, you need to spend time and identify such Youtubers in your niche, as they would not charge you too much for a video related mention or promotion.

Does your definition of "influencer" include someone who uses methods that go against the terms and conditions of YouTube?

Because if so, you've found all of us.

Try to pick a lot of small youtubers for $20-$30. You can find a lot of such option in developing countries.
Do you have any suggestion how to identify such users on YT? I don't think they use product/brand related keywords in their video headlines and descriptions

anyway to automate finding infulencers on yt and IG etc?

Your roi will depend on your influencer’s channel stats, your product audience, your landing page and your copywriting.

Of course, there are ways to automate finding influencers on youtube. Currently, I am doing that on a production basis. I have all kinds of youtube scraping scripts and even more importantly I have a working solution for the extraction of a pretty massive amount of YT channel's business emails. This is the biggest problem about YT scraping since they protect it desperately.
