Personally i have built my own platform using wordpress many years of Headaches, Although I tried other builds with shopify i have to be honest i think Shopify it's "Rubbish" and there is far to many limits on what you can do on there. As a Wordpress web Developer myself. I have to be honest i hate limitation and shopify certainly give me that closure.
what's the reason to choose Shopify over Wordpress?

As others have said, Shopify has a great simple relatively intuitive UI, which can help guide a beginner to setting up their store and backend functionality. Or conversely, act as a quick platform to test something out for more experienced sellers.
