I'm trying to understand what's the main purpose of using the cloaker. I hear it mentioned all the time, but I haven't seen definite info on the reasons you would use one.

Can anyone explain or forward to some sticky or something?

it's because FB does not allow you to run those offers through FB ads.

Which offers in particular FB does not allow to run? So how does the cloaker work? Is it a simple redirect? It shows one URL to the ad manager on FB and then another one once the actual traffic starts flowing?

    Sounds like simple redirect.

Also, don't the FB ad managers see that you have just iframed CPA offer and reject the ad for this?

What about using the classical landing page with link to product? Is it not effective anymore?

I am not into the blackhat lingo ... but I'm guessing a simple redirect is what cloaking is. I use a redirect for a quick product testing and ad setup.

If you have a stable product that you see sells, then the next step would be a landing page, which in turn you can retain your customers by implementing facebook's custom audience pixel on your site!

    hope that helps!

As far as i know, a cloaker is used if your ad is about something which facebook doesn't allow(like dating, weight loss etc etc). What cloaker does is it redirects any facebook spider or their ads reviewer to whitehat site while redirecting your visitors to your offer/LP.

As said above a good cloaker make use of ip list, user-agent strings and several other algorithms to redirect network managers to whitehat site and regular visitors to the landing page..

Facebook does not allow weight loss promotions? Since when? How can cloaker tell if it's a visitor from FB spider, ad reviewer or a real click from a person?

Nope, apart from game installs (strict though) they rarely allow any affiliate link. If its a good cloaker, the developer regularly update ip of facebook reviewers, and redirect them to whitehat site, redirect rest people to affiliate link.

Cloakers are used to direct link to merchant landing page, when restrictions are imposed on affiliates.

Why not just direct to landing page and then have a link to the product?
