What's the point of using proxies for posting in SB?

I was thinking isn't it just like using the linkchecker since it is only doing one site then moving on to the next?

I've heard talk of 'akismet ban' but I realized I only use 8 private proxies (4 recently) and they haven't been banned. I thought that it is so few and I'm running through 500k lists round the clock that it is gonna be pretty much the same as not using proxies at all.

So unless someone else has good reason for it I think I'll save some more money on monthly fees and fly commando when posting.

I've never had a problem with posting from my own ip but you will still need the proxies when harvesting from Google etc...

Well I'm running through a VPS. Ah yes that is the other issue someone told me- that it might get complaints to the vps provider who might shut me down.

Just to avoid any kind of spam complaints. I got a few complaints a while back and squidproxies gave me the warning too for it.

So, you used squidproxies and they warned you because of spam?

If you get your VPS IP banned - you may have to look for a different hosting!
I don't know the exact answer, but it's at least some separation from your server. Find a way of offsetting the cost of vps and private proxies and you don't have to worry about it :D

Another thing - using good custom footprints will eliminate a lot of bad urls from your list; also good BH ethics - like learning how to do it right, mixing up names, keywords, trackbacks, good comments that nobody else is using, etc.

I just started maybe 2 weeks ago and I've learned a lot and now I'm ready for the deep waters

As far as I know, Askimet has two types of bans- the first one is when an IP is banned and the second one when the website's URL itself is banned

Yes, i heard the same. I think if one url is posted on more than 100 akismet blogs/hour the url gets banned. Then your blasts get blocked by akismet.

If it's so - the solution should be simple! Just add akismet footprint with a (-) sign to your custom footprint when harvesting.

Another big thing - can you use fast poster efficiently without good proxies? I can't answer vps questions as I still use SB on my home computer.

Sign up with a DSL company that gives you a new IP every time you unplug the modem, and you're golden.

I wonder if this is why I am unable to see any results from using SB like a madman around the clock nowadays...i know panda has supposed to have nerfed it but maybe this too is the double nerf.

I bet a majority of bloggers are too lazy to setup akismet. I know I am, then again I set and forget my blog.
