You click through the redirected page you end up on the products sale page, ehich has you hoplink at the top anyway...so whats the point. if they were going to steal your links or whatever couldnt they still do it even after you've cloaked the link on your page???

With cloaking you will get people to click on the link.. Normally people have doubts about affiliate links as they appear gibberish .. So you make them nice looking links so that people click on them...

When they click the link a cookie is set on their computer which tells the affiliate network that you directed them to the sales page. So you will get the commission even if they do not buy it on the first visit. Unless they manually delete the cookies, you are sure to get your commission...

    Regards,

It's all about getting the clickthru and credibility.

Some vendors even strip the hoplink from the URL with a simple redirect. Unfortunately, more do not.

The better vendors do this and I can't understand why more don't do the same.

I find it strange that the type of products where your hoplink often shows in the address bar are the ones which are related to internet marketing.

I wonder if this is deliberate to encourage someone to buy it through their own Clickbank account and save money, which is a powerful incentive to buy.

When i cloak links, i remove the hoplink out of the URL so they just land on domain.com

As for the rewrite part, it's just to make them look nicer so people click them.

Any tips on how to do this? I know how to php redirect, but my aff link will obviously show in the URL bar when they reach the merchant site. Would be cool to just show the merchant url w/o my id and still get credit for the lead. Am i understanding that's what you do? Thanx

    Is link cloaking the following?
    BAD:
    w w w. affiliatesponsor . c o m / 234234234234
    GOOD:
    w w w. affiliatesponsor . c o m
.. but still yields the same results?

and these examples would simply be a link provided to the potential customer, right?
If this is true would the following be considered 'link cloaking?'

    <a href="affiliatesponsorDOTcom/4234234234234234">affiliatesponsorDOTcom/4234234234234234</A>
    with the cloak being:
    <a href="affiliatesponsorDOTcom/4234234234234234">affiliatesponsorDOTcom</A>
