If you had the possibility to go back in time, to when you weren't yet successful in IM, when you started learning, or even before, when would you go, and what would you would tell your younger self? why? :)

remember: you can only give yourself one advice!

Just get out of school and start learning about IM. Really school and college was a waste of time for me.

thought about it, but I put it here 'cause I was thinking it would be more something about your journey as an IMer ... if mods feel like it, they can move it to the lounge :)

    so no advice?

    ... in fact ...

    wouldn't that just
    make your younger
    self rest on his
    laurels and actually
    cause him to fail??
    :Thinkingo

If you need advices, that's another deal :

    1. There will be no quick results.
    2. You can't start without knowledge
    3. Read a lot, implement even more
    4. Forget night clubs & free time
    5. Dedicate yourself to IM fully
    6. It's not a hobby, it's a business
    7. Stick to only ONE method at a time
    8. Avoid suffering and collect some money to start
    9. Don't start without a definite, detailed plan
    10. It's a tough road, be prepared to learn rising after the fall
    11. Believe in yourself, if you can't, just be persistent
    12. Fake success until it's real
    13. You are stronger than you think
    14. Be positive.
    15. Never give up!

I want every newbie to read this, their lives will get much easier.

Last 2 points are the most important, be positive and never give up.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

I actually answered this in detail in an interview-

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started blogging?

I wish I knew that you could make money.

Although thinking about it perhaps itís good that I didn’t know you could make money on the internet when I first started out writing games reviews.

I was never doing it for the money – it was a volunteer position.

I was doing it because I loved writing, I loved the internet and I loved playing games. I was combining 3 passions into a fun filled super orgy.

My father always said to me – find your passion in life & then find a way to make money with it.

If you can do that, you will never ‘work’ another day in your life.

Well I was certainly following my passion and I still am to this day although I haven’t played a game in a long time.

I believe this is what separates me from a lot of people. A lot of the people I speak to are purely getting into blogging and SEO to make money.

No other motivation other than to make cold hard cash.

    Quickly.

The truth is people that just want to make money quickly will never make any real money or build a long term sustainable business online.

They will buy the dream over and over though

[IMG]In a strange way I guess I sort of already knew what I needed to know when I first started.

    I just didn’t know it.

Follow your passion, not the money.

Thanks! and I really needed those.

And for me I would go back to 2004 and tell myself "Don't listen to people around you and find the truth by yourself!"

I can't really answer this question, as I am just starting out, so I can't really go back to a time when I was... starting out, because that would be like ... yesterday :silly:

Don't focus on the goal / end point. Focus on the actions required to achieve that goal.
