I see many people using other peoples videos and are partnered up. Like RWJ for example, he just links back to the owners youtube. So is that enough in youtubes eyes to allow this to happen?

Im considering starting up a youtube, legit views etc but using other peoples vids and linking back to them.

Just not sure if this will cover it.

Do i have to be partnered up to a certain network to cover my ass?

Prob sound a little stupid but youtubes not the section i have been working in all this time and want to branch out to it.

From what I remember, you can use up to 15 seconds of someone else's video and it's just like you reporting on it. You have to link back to the original video to give credit to the owner. I could be wrong about the amount of time you can show of the video, but I don't think you can just take a full video clip and reupload it if you give credit, if I remember correctly. RWJ has had his account suspended several times for copyright, but they always bring him back, of course. Obviously people get mad when he uses their content and gets tons of views to his videos and earns money off of it, which I would be also, but rules are rules and obviously YT is going to side with the person who's making them millions of dollars, not the person pissed off about their content being used.

Damn that sucks as i was hoping to upload videos from other youtubers who dont really use youtube much but have had a video go viral and they wont be bothered about who reuses it, id even link back to them etc.

Surely its only copywrite if they have copywritten it?

Or does it not work like that? for example if i upload a video of paint drying and someone reuploads it i can prove i own it unless i have copywritten it?
