I want to launch a 10,000 page site using wordpress and was wondering if anyone else has done this (or bigger) in the last 6 months.

You don't have to start big to have success. Also, I'm not sure some search engines like websites catapulting to the front pages.

Quality is going to win out over quantity any day. Giant sites like that look like linkfarms and tend to get flagged for manual review very very quickly, especially if they didn't grow to that size organically.

Stay away from things that big.

Even Penis Enlargement sites aren't that big, and even then, if it's too big, that's a problem.

It's not the size of the site that counts, its the oogle of the Google.

a 6-8' page site is perfect to start. :)

Sorry for now answering back to my thread. I think you guys have got the wrong idea.

    I'm not starting. I'm scaling.

I already own 60 money sites + more in my network and have owned sites that update over 100 times a day that have been fine. + Eli at bluehatseo.com often recommends making massive sites and I have already had a lot of success following his methods.

I was just wondering if anyone has personally created a site aound 10,000 pages because my aim is to just get as much content out there as fast as possible. For example launching a database driven website using ez empire builder (Diamond Dave gave it the thumbs up).

    Anyone done that with success?

I'm not repeating anyone else's advice here. I've done my own experiments with custom built database-driven software.

Based on my experiments, sites with more than a few thousand pages per domain performed less well than sites with fewer pages. Within the less massive sites, a few hundred pages seemed to perform better than a few thousand, at least for my test content. (Though to be fair, I wasn't doing any external linkbuilding for these test sites, which might change the results somewhat)

I tried separate experiments with obvious spam sites, duplicate content, and spun content. The spun content did best, but still suffered a penalty that seemed to come from being too big. I'm pretty sure the large sites were being flagged for human review and removed.

If you're proposing to build a site that big with multiple domains, that's a different story. If you split your pages over a bunch of domains, don't forget to split across several IPs (and preferably across several ranges of IPs).

What kind of content are you hoping to host? Spun content? Duplicate? Auto-generated babel?

Whatever you do, be careful to avoid appearing to be a linkfarm - the algos for catching that are good, and the people who sit at google and review pages all day are even better. ;)
