I'd like to hear everyones opinion on what you do for manual submissions, such as which forums, blogs, wikis, etc. What do you guys think is the best and most efficient way to build links manually without using a program. Id like to hear everyones thoughts.

Since you said without a program..

    For blogs:
    1. Goto www.google.com
    2. Search: "Leave a reply" inurl:yourkeyword [<--This is called "footprint". (search these forums, there are excellent posts about footprints, you can find blogs/forums etc)]
    3. Go to each result, skim over the article, takes about 30 seconds (If you're good with your keyword/topic), write a 2-3 line reply, takes about 30 seconds, make sure you're adding value to the blog by commenting (increases change of being accepted)..also see if you can quote part of the post and reply on that, increases the chances of your post being accepted. Leave your website and name could be your anchor or you can leave link in the body. Dont spend too much time ok, max 1 min 30 secs. Dont do quick shitty spam like "Nice article!/ Great post!" stuff, its speed vs quality = reject vs accept trade-off imo. Your choice.

You should be able to comment on around 30-40 sites in an hour, if you had something valuable to say, it should increase year chance of acceptance. If you find auto-approve blog, save it somewhere. After the run, ping those links.

Keep mod-awaiting comments somewhere too, so you can revisit a week/2 weeks later and see what happened.

Why do you not want to use any program?

Its all alot easier if you use a free tool like Sick Scrapper. It'll sort the list PR wise and can export to text which you can import to spreadsheet so its all easier to track the links above. Anyway, on a high PR site, make sure you put in a good comment :).

Another alternative is to use a chrome/firefox plugin called SEO quake. Install plugin, goto gogole advanced search, set display results to 100, then run your search query, let plugin do its mojo, simply export all results to spreadsheet. (If you're confused here, just install plugin, goto google.com and search something, you'll understand everything)

If you think my reply helped, dont forget to thank/rep :)

Why in the world would you want to build manually?! The only thing I'd do manually is a high PR blog comment.

Profiles, comments, 2.0, articles can all be done in an automated fashion at a rate in the thousands an hour if you want. Do it manually for a few days to understand what's done, then automate it. Save your time!

As extropy stated do high pr blogs manual as you can keep on topic and if your niche is not that hard to rank it does not take many top blogs to get rank one

Ive got xrumer myself and i find i need it less and less each new site i buy

I do web2.0 sites manually, like squidoo, hubpages, blogger, and wordpress. I think a high quality one of those is better than a trashy bot made site with no bio, pictures, etc - which those sites tend to block or take down anyway. Add in a few high quality articles to sites like articlebase and ezine. You can still spin the content, but manually proofread it to make sure it would pass a human review.

Also, high PR forums or blogs should be manually created to get past manual review.

But then take all those sites you create and backlink to them with bot programs.

Manual link building is always going to have its place but what I'm trying to say that your link building efforts will be much easier if you cretae something that people actually want to link to such as the example post mentioned. It is important to create quality content and you should be focussed on creating greate content. This will atract links naturally, allowing you to spend your time on other.

We do forum profile posting for our backlinks. The more links are hand-built the more backlinks get indexed, been reading this book about killer link building which explains what we can do to make our links look more natural to google. With the help of no-follow and do-follow links, the website with most backlinks will rank highest in the search engines, if you have time to read this book pm me so I can send it to you at no cost at all.

Forum posting is good, as are blog comments. That is if you want to do them manually. I sometimes like the challenge of doing them manually though:)

If you are really decided to go manually, it is very simple actually. Just search on Google your keyword/s and open every site. Some will be youtube videos, blogs, forums, etc. Leave a backlinks on any site that allows you to post a comment, write a post, etc.

Always use different usernames, don't always use your keywords on comments, you know, be natural.

    Good luck buddy.

When trying to get backlinks should you use a proxy (ip other than your own) to do the posting so that it seems like it is from someone else for sure?

only reason to use proxy is to prevent your account/ip from being banned or flagged.

your ip information is not somehow linked to the link for google to cross reference, they would somehow have to directly pull all log-in account info from a site, which 1 they can't do, 2 is absolutely useless for them to track all that data.

If you are going to manually build links, focus on do-follow and high page rank properties. You might be better of using your manual work on 2.0 platforms and use automation to build up the authority of those web 2.0 sites.
