No matter who you use.. they all rely on keyword planner data for search volume. A lot of people use keywordrevealer though.

Only you have paid Google planner campaign then you can get exact numbers of keywords, I have read keywordeverywhere is somewhat accurate enough to use, or try Seogroupbuy, though its not free and slow to use.

Use keywordtool.io for finding question based keywords. They are great low competition, and can bring quick traffic to your site as they can be ranked very fast.

Doing keyword research is different from getting keyword metrics.

For keyword metrics most tools will work. Say keywordrevealer, ahrefs, semrush ...etc. You can use a groupbuy to get them for cheap

Now for keyowrd research, you need to use you brain, google search. Tools depend on finding keywords using algorithms, which means you are competing with anyone using these tools. All of them rely on Google keyword planner, so, you are competing in same keyword the whole world is competing for.

Now, if you started to use your brain to find keywords, you will be astonished by the amount of keyword people leave. In any Niche, there are keywords with good search volumes and no competition just because they don't appear automatically in tools and you have to do you search to find them

Using Semrush is a great way to find these find of keywords cuz you are getting competition keywords. But first do some search to get a perspective of the niche structure. The more you dig, the more opportunities you will find.

Low Competition Keywords at 3$ only.
    Home Page:
Simple. If you want to know the search volume for the bulk keyword, then use SEMrush or keyword revealer.
To check the keyword difficulty, use keyword revealer and kWfinder.
Both are very accurate but need some manual research about the keywords.

Use Moz, Majestic to find very low competition keywords if you want to make blogs for the keyword.

Again, don't depend on tools to do the brain work. Determining the difficulty of the keyword can never be calculated using tools

Personally, I judge the competition by just looking at the first page results. If you need help, then use tools to get backlinks data then make your call. But don't let the tool tell judge the difficulty by its algorithms

I think brainstorming is very important part of keyword research and keyword planner is actually the best place to be in while brain storming. And then use other tools to get the metrics like kw difficulty and others. I like Ahrefs KD metrics because they generate those metrics based on backlink profile of top 10 pages in google SERP and looking at updates in SEO algorithm, that might be the most relevant thing to consider.

For search volume as far as i have noticed, google keyword planner combines search volume for what we might consider two keywords (eg. Bike and bikes have same value in keyword planner while other tools might show two different values for both of them). Now for good kw research tools there are tons already listed above by fellow members, you can decide which one works best for you. Personally, i like KWfinder and ahrefs keyword explorer.

Keyword revealer + semrush is a good combo.

IMO, having a very good keyword research process matters more than any single tool.
