Ive been reading and reading and watching video after video about creating the most effective silo site structre for my blog but I really just don't know whats best...

I hope you guys can shed some light on what you would do if you were in my position.

My website targets 4 main keywords but im to hoping to naturally rank for an array of long tails..

    Lets say the keywords are:
    -Apples
    -Red Apples
    -Blue Apples
    -Purple Apples

-- All content is 100% unique
    -- CMS is wordpress
-- I use pages for categories instead of the /category/apples/ structure but 301 the category to the page (which acts like a category)

    MENU STRUCTURE:
Apples - Red Apples - Blue Apples - Purple Apples --- Search Box
    or..
    applesX.com - /red-apples/ - /blue-apples/ - /purple-apples/ --- Search Box

    HOMEPAGE TARGETING APPLES:
-The homepage consists of a 10,000 word article about apples broken down into sub sections and headings all about apples.
-Under the 10,000 word content i have a list of related articles split as follows..
--- I have a block of 20 article titles (no excerpt to avoid duplicate content) that are the most recent articles added to the site, i thought this would be good for Google to quickly see the new content being added everyday and index it accordingly.
--- Under those i have a block of 60 article titles that are set to a random order so that they change on page load.
    - The supporting articles are all in the /apples/ category
-- /apples/ is redirected to the homepage

    PAGE TARGETING RED APPLES: /red-apples/
-7k word article broken into sub sections (same as above)
    - Related articles underneath
--- Block of 20 new articles (just titles), most recent
--- Block of 60 articles in random order (just titles)
    - The supporting articles are all in the /red-apples/ category
-- Category page /category/red-apples/ is redirected to /red-apples/ (which is a page)

    PAGE TARGETING RED APPLES: /blue-apples/
-6.5k word article broken into sub sections (same as above)
    - Related articles underneath
--- Block of 20 new articles (just titles), most recent
--- Block of 60 articles in random order (just titles)
    - The supporting articles are all in the /blue-apples/ category
-- Category page /category/blue-apples/ is redirected to /red-apples/ (which is a page)

    PAGE TARGETING RED APPLES: /purple-apples/
-6.5k word article broken into sub sections (same as above)
    - Related articles underneath
--- Block of 20 new articles (just titles), most recent
--- Block of 60 articles in random order (just titles)
    - The supporting articles are all in the /purple-apples/ category
-- Category page /category/purple-apples/ is redirected to /purple-apples/ (which is a page)

    How Much Supporting Content....?
    -Apples
    --- 1,211 TOTAL
    --- 559 Published
    --- 652 Scheduled

    -Red Apples
    --- 296 TOTAL
    --- 139 Published
    --- 157 Scheduled

    -Blue Apples
    --- 87 TOTAL
    --- 36 Published
    --- 51 Scheduled

    -Purple Apples
    --- 41 TOTAL
    --- 15 Published
    --- 36 Scheduled

    TOTAL: 1,635
    Published: 749
    Scheduled: 896

SCHEDULED posts are set to publish at random dates and times up until March 1st 2016

    POST Structure:
    - Internal links through menu bar to other 4 targeted keywords (4 pages)
    - "Previous Post" and "Next Post" (Only cycling through same category)
    - Related Posts showing 6 article titles (Only cycling through same category)
    - Comment count linking to an anchor #comments (doesnt bleed link juice right?)
    - Sidebar has a search box and a banner which is no followed to the offer

    ---------------------------------

So thats how my site is structured and the amount of posts etc i am dealing with and remember that posts are added all the time so whatever perfect solution i apply it has to be dynamic as its not really possible to edit posts every day... i'd rather spend a days work on the whole thing and get it right dynamically!

Apparently this website has a good silo structure:
    http://powertools.heatmaptheme.net/

When you land on it you are presented with 3 silos...
    Cordless X
    Electric X
    Gas X

And then when you go into each one its broken down into supporting topics... a bit like my website currently does.

But the only difference that i can see is the use of the menu bar, they don't link to the other "categories" within a silo and they keep everything within the same category.

So if im thinking straight then the only change that i would need on my site to adapt to something like this is to simple remove the menu bar (that links all categories) and only display the link in the menu to the current category...? SO then when they are in one of my 4 silos the link juice would simply circilate around my supporting topic articles and then each of them would also link to the mother page..?

But the only problem with that, is because im using my homepage as a "category"... the main keyword, then if someone lands on my homepage they won't be able to navigate to the other 3 categories (keywords) that im targeting and also the bots won't be able to flow.

So i'm not sure if you guys have any good suggestions of how you would structure my site but i'm getting rather lost and would be really grateful for some advice!

I look forward to hearing what you guys and gals think i should do [IMG]
