A really easy way to launch an online social community is to use:

    Code:
    hxxp://www.ning.com
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it sure is easy!

Not a script - but if you are willing to do a little bit of coding, checkout dev.live.com/Quickapps/

The type of hosting depends purely on traffic and membership levels + cpu capacity and RAM needed for simultaneous uploads/downloads. If the script is mysql based you'll need to focus on RAM.

Just look at them and do a comparison, I cant go through them all. Also take a look at phpfox, I havent used it but there are some good reviews about it.

Just g00gle "best social script" and you will get tons of reviews.

Damn. That script, and your site, look great -- especially for only $425 with all the optional features. I mean... DAMN I'm getting ripped OFF....

I dunno about the Dolphin script. I used to use it. THe clean version doesn't have chat or forums. You have to find a way to incorporate your own. The actual Dolphin 6.14 script is buggy, and many webhosting companies are unable to run it.

What hosting company are you using?

I run a social network using phpFox and love that script. The base package comes with some nice features, their are a lot of free mods that spruce things up...Their is a bunch of coders that release paid mods as well...and a lot of them are floating around on nulled script forums if you don't want to pay. I am just over 10,000 members with an average of 30-40 people online at once and I have no issues.

I'm not running Dolphin right now, I have a custom script under development and plan to host it at home. Hostforweb.com is apparently familiar with dolphin, according to boonex.

For a social membership site, a dedicated server is the utmost essential to handle the bandwidth. I am also in the process of making one, and I really got some cool script help from this thread.
    Thanks to everyone....BHW rocks :)
