    I'll have a lot of spare time this spring so instead of jumping from one tool to another - I'm looking for a handful of effective and safe methods to market a new authority site.

    So far I've got:

    - follow/unfollow people to get noticed in social media.
    - mention people on Twitter when they use specific keywords.
    - high quality guest posts.
    - comment on blogs within my niche.
    - participate on a niche related forum.

    What am I missing?

    I've got the time and I'm ready to do some hard work. However, I don't want to seem spammy and risk getting my account banned or get my site penalized.

    You are on the right track, you can start with it now, focus mainly on social media and guest post...

    You are missing the fact you need to be an authority which means you need tons of relevant and useful content plus maybe some
    media like videos to go along with it. Pick your keywords carefully and do not increase your KD to much per article. Optimize your traffic with web 2.0 pages and buy some safe links.

    What you are doing is fine for now.

    But there are some truly important stages of website promotion process you are missing. These are:

    - keyword research;
    - content optimization;
    - seo site audit.

    Building links, getting more followers and growing social media presence - all that is cool. But if don't know what keywords you are actually promoting your website for, if your content isn't optimized for them, and if your site has some coding and structure errors, that will hold back your ranking progress.
