Right now I'm interested in the general idea of making money online. Part of my education is spending time each night readings & doing research here at BHW, learning the concepts, words & their definitions, etc...

I learn best by applying things I read about to something concrete, otherwise all the new words, etc... do not mean anything.

What's a good first step toward applying some of these concepts? Something that requires a minimum of expertise and time investment. It doesn't matter how much money as it's for learning. But there does have to be some kind of financial payoff.

I hope the question makes sense, and thanks in advance.

Actually working not just reading / surfing / visiting forums etc. It's very easy at the end of a day to think you've worked hard but the acid test is what's your output been like. How many articles did you write? How many backlinks did you create? How many Blog posts did you do?

The best first step is to take the first step.

Not asking which one is it but deciding for yourself and actually walking forward is the best step.

That said. I started off buying old domains, turning them into autoblogs and selling them @ dp for 5-6 times the amount paid for the domain.

Testing, failing, testing more, failing more, testing even more, then success! Learning to outsource will also help speed up your success if you hire the right people for the right tasks.

    Good luck!

Your first step is to come here - good choice.

Next, identify what you are good at. Building sites, writing blogs, using utilities, finding and selling resources, etc. Don't try to do it all.

Once find one of the above, find a topic that you understand or can quickly learn a lot about. The more you understand your client, the better you will be.

JITL - Just in time Learning

Do not spend your time learning about something that you will not be using ever or within the next few months. Focus your efforts.

Read a lot on here and ask questions when it makes sense.

Help others. This will often reenforce the original reason you are doing what you are doing.

Those are a few. The rest will come with age.

its worthless if you do not experience and live to tell the tale.

having read about a topic is very different from employing the research, you'll always something new, face hurdles, hardships. but in the end I guess
