Hi, I used to use adaware to monitor and stop spy / spamware, but apparantly the new version has some problem installing on XP (real smart of them seeing how it's the most widely used operating system). What would you use that actually detects and stops (not hijack this) the background programs?

Thank you!

Seems odd that the software wouldn't run on xp. However, i'm sure you can use Microsoft windows defender, I would hope Microsoft's own application would run in xp :)

And when it is too late : hijackthis (free tool that finds most malware)

what does hijackthis do ? i was planning my little PPI thingy :) well i think most users dont have it or can't think that fast tho :)'

after install they can remove it no brops :)

i use adaware and its quite fine

PC Tools Spyware doctor is probably the best one of "one-push-button" solutions.

Else.. Hijack this, Windows safe mode, regedit, Google in case of need for seeing what files does what and what belongs to what installation.

Anyone tried prevx? Picked up a file nothing else had before and sure enough when I uploaded it to virustotal it lit up like a christmas tree.
Code:
