What would you do if you were presented with an unlimited budget, and were asked to rank a domain for an extremely difficult keyword?

I've thought about this on a few occasions, and I always come up with the most interesting scenarios when money is no longer an object.

    What would you do?

I can't help but think about the epic things that people on BHW could get done with an unlimited budget. It would be utter domination!

Why is this posted in the blackhat section? I'd just hire 500 people to sit and do manual work as the good links really are easier to make by hand and not simply with a software. Getting those juicy links often requires bypassing moderators and as soon as they smell you wanting a link without creating value, they'll shut down what ever you're trying

Just because you have a budget it doesn't mean you have to spend it, before you do anything you will need to see what your competition is doing then work out an action plan from that

Use cheap stuff for mass directories, bookmarks and spend high in a decent press release, bribe some site owners for high end guest posts

Then use networks(plug in my sig) and build links to those

Don't spend money without looking at your competition links first though, if they have 100 network posts the copy that, if they don't then don't blah blah

I'd buy 7878's service and be fully satisfied in the rest of the budget being profit.

With an unlimited budget I would hire a group of the best writers I could find, I would also hire some great designers ,and developers

I would then go about creating some fantastic link bait content, articles, blog posts, infographics and get some great natural links in, also I would creat some great tools for the site that people want to use such as plugins, calculators etc...depending on the niche.

I would make the site the best and most authorative in its niche.

That's most of the job done. The rest should fall into place. It wouldn't be cheap though.

Look at your competitiors backlinks and try to get their backlinks too, for a competitive keyword you have to have a lot of link diversity, and quality backlinks.

You shouldn't spend the whole budget unless it's really needed(good point Wannabie). Blog Networks work good, but you will need a lot more than that to outrank your competition for such a keyword.

Very white hat... nice and kosher. Good strategy though!

It seems like people would lean more towards white hat strategies if money wasn't an issue?

At first i would like to hire a very talented SEO person who can tell me about what to do and what not. then i would like to hire some person to do SEO manually in some of my blogs and in some blogs i would experiment some automated and semi automated processes. then after observing the result i would invest more and more in the preferred one :)
