What Would YOU Do If This Happened To You?

Hi Guys,

Suppose you are the proud owner of the site showing in the screenshot. It was doing really well and increasing in both earning and traffic every single day!

And then boom!

You got hit by Google and seeing continues drop in traffic. By deeply looking at the site, what would you do to the site?

• Let the traffic sink until it dies off
• Take steps to recover the site (after looking at it, what do you think is necessary?)

This is not my site and I'm not promoting it, recently saw some sites getting penalized that previously were doing very well!

Find out all the spammy backlink and disvow it.

Then, I will collect top 20 pages of the site which got the most traffic and will update it with more relevant and useful content.

Find out pages that are not getting traffic. Update those pages by adding more content if you think if it's lacking value . Interlink those posts from posts that are getting traffic.

Also find out pages, that are thin (800 words less). Add content to make it more than 1000 words. Interlink those posts from posts that are getting traffic.

That is something you could do to any site. Did you find any specific thing on the site (this site is not mine) that might have caused the traffic and keyword drop (which indicates a penalty).

1) Find out why it was penalized.

2) Can it be fixed?

3) If it can be fixed, how expensive is the fix and how much is the site worth? Worth it? If worth it, fix it.

4) If it cannot be fixed, forget it, throw domain out, move on.

Great input!

Can you have a deeper look at the site and see if you can find out any probable reason for penalization? I see overusing of "pingbacks". Do you see any other issue?

I won't disavow till I get a penalty.

I would check anchor optimization, on-page failure, technical SEO failure...

Then find out the why? Is your competitor growing strong? Or there are a few keywords that are dropping because of links and so many other things.

I usually check each and every page when that happens, pretty easy to find out if it's a 50 page blog.

Good luck if you have 500+ page blog.
