Hi, I have a very interesting situation (well to me anyways) A couple of days ago, I received money in Paypal from some woman, i don't even know! At first I thought it was somebody paying me for a web design, or one of my services, since it's not un-common for me to receive money from people who require some work done. However, after looking through my emails and emailing a couple of people I have been in talks with over work been done for them, I asked if this was them sending money to me of there wifes account or someone they know. Both said no. So I was getting worked up all day yesterday, trying to issue a refund but since I received money in $USD and myself been from UK £ I just auto converted.. and this is where the head ache started because since I had already received money assuming it was for work and later finding out it wasn't I was left with the money in my account in (GBP £) and to issue a refund, I found out that if I where to issue a refund I would need to convert the GBP£ Back to --> USD$ On looking into issuing a refund, because I was converting back from £GBP back to $USD - There was going to be a $70 for a fee incurred by paypal! which really annoyed me because I tried to issue a refund and they where going to charge me $70 USD to refund the money back from £GBP Back into $US DOLLARS! and then I found out, even if I did do that, that apparently I could give a part refund... which pissed me off even more, as why Paypal are making such a simple task into one big fuck off ordeal.. so i done my best researching on what I could do. I eventually gave up researching and called Paypal Customer Service. I explained the situation, told them I had received money from someone I don't know, I've tried emailing the person who sent money and met with no-response and explained this to Paypal and they said that if she sent you money and you've tried getting in touch and no one is responding, then cutting a long story short, for me just to keep the money! So after I got off phone, I was tad confused how this is even right! I mean I'm been honest, I'm trying to make a refund and I'm even emailing her with no response... and all your saying is basically keep it.. whilst am not sure of the legality of it but was the exact words of a paypal agent, morally speaking I still want to make a refund but am I hell paying $70 to refund money when someone sent it to me, I am not paying for someone else mistake. What do you guys think? Also just a heads up, always double check your email your sending money to via paypal. For example. Your trying to send money to Johnsmith@hotmail.com But end up sending it to Johnsmith@hotmail.co.uk I still want to make a refund but what on earth am I meant to do!
