I'm an indie game dev (PC games, scifi niche) and since I live on Ramen and do everything myself I only have time to really manage one social media account. What platform would be best to focus on growing? I will want to convert the people to supporters of the game when it launches in 12-18 months.

Facebook is what I could recommend if it's available on your area and since you mentioned the time availability you have is to manage one. You might also consider YouTube.

Facebook works really well since it is really big. If you want to showcase your work (and maybe monetize the videos), YouTube could be a great option.
Other good options are Twitter (I am a dev too and I have meet a lot of people and clients there, on Twitter!) and of course Reddit, there if you get a post upvoted and reach trends or popular section...well, it will be amazing (talking about marketing for your company).

Facebook is a great way to promote your game in many different groups. But you should also consider Instagram. Post pics of your games, the development process and promote your game on Youtube.

Another great way would be forum marketing. There are endless forums about gaming and game development. I am sure you will find many interested people there that will gladly share your posts/tweets/content if it's good.
