    Hi,

    lets say I am able to rank for several long tail keywords and then I add a redirect so people who actually
    want to visit my site are redirected to another website, would this hurt my rankings or even nullify them?

    Thanks in advance!

    It depens on what kind of redirect you are doing. If is it HTTP 301 it would do harm. If you figure out something else you would be ok.

    Make sure that the content is related between the two pages.

    Actually I don´t even know what a http 301 is... I wanted to do something along the lines of this:

    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=squeezepage"/>

    to a squeeze page and then capture the visitors emails. So the new page wouldn´t have any content!

    It would only last for the time between the day the redirect was done, and the time the next crawl by the bot happens.

    As soon as the content changes, the rankings will too.

    It is foolish to do this.

    The rank benefit will pass, but since the new page is just a squeeze page rankings will suffer.
    So the next crawl would most likely move your rankings down.
