Hi guys, Hope you are having a great day so far..

Anyway, I'm going to create a web 2.0 blog for a very targeted keyword. I am then going to build a big interlinking structure linking to that blog with the intention of getting a high ranking in the SERPs. What free platform would be best suited for this?

It should also do well as a backlink, because I will link from the blog to my main niche site.

    Cheers!

Ok, I am not talking about hosting it on my own domain though. I am talking about setting it up on the web2.0 sites. Is wordpress still good for this?

Also, does it pass a lot of link juice? That is an important factor as well.

Google "linkwheel" and you'll get a basic list of the must-have Web 2.0 sites. And of course, you should not be without a blogger.com account. It's Google's.

I have a list of the best platforms to use for my link wheels.

However I am going to build a linkwheelish backlink setup for a web 2.0 blog (not self hosted). I will then link this page to my main site. So i am not building a traditional link wheel, it is sort of a remix of a linkwheel pointing to a web2.0 site which again points to my main site.

I am targeting a very low competition keyword here, so I want to try to rank in the serps for the keywords I am targeting with the web 2.0 site. So what I am wondering is what web2.0 platform would be easiest for me to rank with in the serps? Is blogspot good for this?

Also, it is important that it passes a lot of link juice to my main site, as the primary function of the web 2.0 page would be to serve as a strong backlink (ranking in the serps would really be a bonus)

I haven't really tested which of my Web 2.0 accounts got ranked faster or better overall. But I noticed that those sites with communities built around them are likely to land on top. You can, of course, add this functionality to your site by linking from social networking or bookmarking sites.

In my opinion though, I think it's important to treat each Web 2.0 site as a different crowd of readers and have each of them rank equally well with your main site.

I personally think it's not so much of what web 2.0 property to use but the quality of your content you put on them.

I have a myspace page which was setup two years ago for some key words (title etc) and hasn't been touched since. It still out ranks all my other 2.0 properties, blog, youtube page, tumblr, twitter, etc.

I have looked in-depth at link juice transfer for web 2.0 sites. The table below shows the percentage of linkjuice which you can potantially point at your money site:

If you want to rank, I recommend wikidot, squidoo and hubpages. Hubpages is the strongest in ranking potential but useless for backlinks. Wordpress and wikidot are the best compromise between juice transfer and ranking potential.

Thanks for the reply Micallef. If I understand right, the more outbound links from the web2.0 site, the more link juice is transferred? What would be the ideal number of outbound links here? Assuming I'm building a linkwheel here, how many links should point to my money site and how many should point to the other spokes in the linkwheel?

Also, I posted some questions is the ''magic number for a linkwheel'' thread.. Could you take a look? :)

Micallef, what are your thoughts on WPMU blogs? There's thousands of Wordpress Multi-Uswer websites out there. Some have a good PR, others have very low PR. In your experience, do you think such sites are worth using as part of a linkwheel or a link-farm? Or would you personally stick to the well known, popular high PR web 2.0 properties?

I've made a few linkwheels now using a number of the popular Web 2.0 properties, and gained reasonable results from this. But the promotion of the linkwheel spokes can be intensive, with the spam-commenting and finding of quality places to drop these links etc. So, I've been considering using the lesser known WPMU sites to create backlinks to my main Web 2.0 properties. That is, using them as a subwheel or merely as a link-farm.

I've seen the effect of using high PR spam-comments - and it is very powerful. A dozen PR5+ spam comments can do wonders for a web 2.0 property. Yet I am wondering what effect 20, 50 or even 100 WMPU blogs all linking to a main web 2.0 property linkwheel spoke could have?

I am actually going to give this a try. But do you have any thoughts or experience with this format?

If you love G. then you must love blogspot at all costs.
Anyway if I were you, I would consider every web 2.0 platform to do its job, might consider some of them priority, but definitely use all of them, and try and make some automated, because time=money. But can anyone explain to me what is "juice link transfer"?
    Sorry for this noob question.

It really doesn't matter which one... just make sure your content is unique and valuable and you'll be fine.

    I'm partial to WP tho.
