Free backlinks from those sources you mentioned are only good for diversity.
They have little to no impact in pushing the keywords to higher serp positions.
One way reducing the link building costs is by using a powerful recently expired domain as a 301 redirect or as the money site domain.
Depending on your niche competition the quality in terms of SEO power and cost expired domain will vary.
Another advantage of using a powerful recently expired domain as moneysite is it helps with indexing.

Free backlinks doesn't work according to aspiration. It will be great paid version like guest post, niche edits, pillow backlinks, resource backlinks etc.

I wouldnt bother with backlinks. Waste of time in 2023. Just write good content over and over again

If you have a low budget then you should outreach your niche relevant High Authority websites and send them your quality content. You can get some backlinks for free.

I'm wonder, google says buying backlink is forbidden, but many doing it. Especially the big boys out there:
newspapers, Gawker, Hearst and many many more.. they invesitng millions of $$ every year on backlinks. I assume they buying it too? Yes they get a lot of natural backlinks too from expert journalists etc,etc,etc....
Sounds like a paradox for me; one one side it's forbidden by G, on the other side many investing in backlinks seo and buying them.
