What type of dog do you have?

I want to get a golden retriever or a lab -- Something that plays a lot but at the same time is very discipline. My biggest thing is he has to like the water... I fish and there is a beach very close for the dogs in the area to all hang out.

what do you guys think?

don't get wiener dogs/sausage dogs. they are the devil
 
try dalmatian. it's a sporty dog, very playful, and energetic.
the one i have loves to swim. worth to try. good luck!
 
I've had 3 german shepherds and they have all been great. I could name off the rest of my dogs but I've had 3 german shepherds and each and everyone one of them was awesome so that speaks for itself
 
I don't have a dog yet but I have been bugging my BF to get me a Yellow Lab and he is resisting. I love labs. They are playful, sporty, loves water! Go get 'em!
 
yeah i'm looking for a dog i can throw the ball out in the water and have him retrieve it. doing it with my girlfriend gets a little boring :X jk (she read that and is now pissed) lol but yeah, a dog that is very friendly and wants to have a great home
 
I have a Lab and a mutt. Labs make great dogs, but they're dumb as rocks. They can learn the basics pretty easily, but they're just not that smart. On the flip side, they obey extremely well the commands they know. They're very friendly and require LOTS of human attention. They also have a "puppy" stage of about 2 years, so prepared to have everything chewed on for a while. If you don't have the time to spend with a Lab, Labs aren't for you.

I've got a 9 year old rat terrier (who unfortunately is having his eye removed tomorrow morning) and an 18 month old Golden Retriever.
 
My dog is great and perfectly trained, what a great member of the family, LOL

I have a black retriever, who can swim as far as you can throw anything, she even breaks the ice in the winter, she's had 2 ducks, a goose, a squirrel and 8 pheasants. Really clever, loyal, trained just to do basics. She was a rescue dog. And She is her name.
 
Don't know what she is, the step daughter bought it home and it shits everywhere.
Used to have a doberman until he died my most loyal friend and companion I could
stay out all night and come home pissed and he was still happy to see me. You don't
get that from a woman.
 
my dog is troy. hes my bus driver.
its funny cause my town is all white. there are like 2 black kids in my grades and they are twins, so i was walking wit one of them the other day and as i walk on the bus troy starts clapping and goes "its a wonderful thing to see that you associate with black people other then me"(were tight) then a weird kid who was never on our bus before comes walking on and troy goes "yo boy to get on this bus you gotta give me some fried chicken"
the look on this kids face was priceless

I can second this...my ex gf had one, and the thing was the A-typical ankle biter. We used to use the same term you did and call her "the devil"


I've got a Samoyed (Eskimo dog) which is a pretty cool breed. Very laid back and loyal as hell.

I had to put my dog down awhile ago....
Really tough thing to do, but I don't regret for one damn second getting him from the pound. He was a mut - golden retriever, lab and blood hound...not the brightest, but that was just who he was....the labs and goldens are great, but the mutts (heinz 57 is what my ma calls them) are the best.

I have a black lab that is 3 years old, her name is Pepper and she is the sweetest dog every I would say. Has never hurt anyone but does have a lot of bark and is big for being a female at 97lbs of pure muscle... personally I would say my pussy cat is meaner than my dog but silent like a ninja lol.
