I'm still a believer in PBNs as long as they are done correctly from a content and relevancy point of view, especially when the domain has solid inbound links

Bit, as the title suggests, what do you look for in a PBN Host?

Footprints to hide should be IP and server setup right?

What else is important? CDN?

any normal ISP is ok where normal websites are hosted. i would stay away from hosters that specifically advertise as PBN hosting in public as google could flag their ranges easily.
other than that its just like with any normal website. you can also rent a server with multiple IPs (in different subnets). you can have many PBN sites on the same ISP, that is usually not a problem.
you dont really need a CDN unless its for speed improvements maybe.

You can look for something as basic and easy to use as pbn.ltd to get going, moving up to various platform reseller accounts, and then up to the crown jewels of IP hosting with the very clued up @Diplomat and his service. Maybe he can enlighten you on some other safety tips for your PBN?

^ Really? How would they do that? I mean, they'd have to create an account and have a poke around? I can't see how they would know their IP ranges? The money-site of the PBN is just an IP like everyone else so how can Google learn more and "black list" their IPs?

how many PBNs you looking to host? If few, then just go normal route, get hosting from different normal hosting company, preferably with hosting in the same country that you are focusing on.

@fb3003 Thanks for your reply - I was thinking about doing your suggestion......but then I thought, isn't it a bit weird if I spin up 10 sites (either expired domains or fresh domains) that all have the same IP?

I mean, even if it is x10 sites then it's still a totally obvious signal to Google - or doesn't it work like that?

To summarize: x10 backlinks from x10 different sites but all x1 IP must be ignored by Google or am I wrong? Thanks!

I guess, what I am getting at here is that if I invest time and money on this then I want it to have the best chance possible to push the needle "an amount"

10 PBNs = 10 different hosting companies = 10 different IPs

@fb3003 yes, you're right - but wouldn't the range suggest that they are clearly next-door neighbors? As ever - it depends - but the local hosting company that I have in mind told me that they have local country-specific IPs and are not in anyway attempting to cloak anything....

To summarize - how "smart" is Google with such a small PBN?

personally, i have about 15 or so PBNs, some of them are on the same hosting. never had an issue. still, i don't recommend this approach. better to be safe and get every single one of your PBNs on different IPs.

also, suggest to read all the threads started by @Nargil and his point of view on expired domains and PBNs.

Oh snap, I missed it somehow.

It's all about diversity. You want your network to look as organic as possible - including your websites. This means everything you have.. DNS, IP addresses, hosting companies, datacenter locations, website setup.. everything is set up as diverse as possible. If you want your network to last for more than 1 domain renewal cycle then you will actually put effort into building it. Not only you would lose money (hosting cost + domain cost + website setup fees if any) you would also lose a link that can do some damage as well.. So take care of your network and don't settle for the lowest quality "it-will-work" stuff.

Keep in mind that with PBN you always should choose quality over quantity. Building 30 trash sites on 30 trash domains may waste your time, won't give you a proper boost, and would be difficult to manage vs getting a couple of nice strong domains with proper setup. Building a PBN is not easy and not cheap.. so create a plan and budget before you start.
