So just to put things in perspective, here is how my "journey" has gone so far...
    - I purchased a MNS
    - Got some backlinks, around 200.
    - Got an article written
    - Signed up for Amazon Affiliates
    - Purchased Scrapebox (still yet to use)

Except just to rank this keyword will take 3000+ backlinks, how should I go about this? What should I do next?
I'm very new to IM and this MNS is my first project, is a MNS a good place to start if you've never made a buck in IM?

I just have no REAL idea how to rank keywords, like I know backlinks and on page SEO, but how do you build so many backlinks? I know there's churn and burn, but how do you build 3000+ backlinks and what is a reasonable amount of time to get 3000 backlinks (do you do them manually?).

Please, I have read and reaaaad even more about IM, SEO etc. But I just feel like i've hit a crossroads and the BHW community has so many different quality answers who can put them into terms I can understand.

Where do you get the figure of 3000+ from? If it is just a comparison against the number of links your competitors have, then you need to be thinking about better links, not more links. Quality over quantity.

What he has just said, quality over quantity.

For ranking keywords think about the most peculiar ones, the ones that are not used by many websites and that are not ranked so high yet. As unique they are, as high they can be ranked. 3000+ backlinks is a really huge number for the start and also they have to be baclinked to something meaningful for your MNS. There are some things to take into consideration when building such a site, one of them being the Exact Match Domains. Do you have one? Some guy told me to rank i'd need 3000+ backlinks (he did a search and number 10 had 3000).

How do you determine better quality links, is it backlinks from pages with higher PA/DA/PR?
I'll have a read of that website, thank you! :)

My MNS is indeed an EMD, which helps.

Then this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Giving you advice without knowing how well your site has been built, the amount of research that went into selecting the main keywords to target (I have bought some mns in the past that were utter crap), and how well your content has been written (readability, inner links, possible keyword stuffing etc) will be very difficult.

Since your MNS will probably be new and lacking content you should first see if it can be expanded a bit. New sites tend to be difficult to rank if they're o a fesh domain with little content. So the best way to build a foundation for your site is to see if any content can be added.
Simply go to your site and brainstorm about which related subject can be covered, then roll up your sleeves and do some keyword research to see which keywords your will target and write it (or get it written).

If your website is indeed fresh, and it already has 200 backlinks pointing at it you should be very careful adding any more if you don't want it to get burned. Build up your content and wait a couple of weeks till your rankings stabilize before doing any off-page (except for maybe some social exposure)

    Hope this helps.

it's not a number game anymore (obviously its been like that many years already)
get web20, blog posts, quality guest posts, some high pr relevant comments and it should get you going.
Its all about quality, healthy mix of back-links and maintaining natural profile.

Its 80% on-page SEO and 20% off-page SEO.If your content is good enough,a few quality backlinks will be sufficient to rank high for long tail keywords.
