Just 301 Redirect it to your new site if they both are in same niche.

You can redirect it after you set up a new site. Till then point/restore your old site on the server rather than 404 error.

    But is 301 still effective?

My new website will be set with 100+ articles and i would like to make it like authority website not churn and burn

Then giveaway the domain, or else use it to as a domain of your Private blog network to churn and burn sites.
