One year ago I have started a technology/gadget blog which has only around 30 posts in differernt categories. Due to me being busy with little time I have not touched the blog since it was first started where in around 30 days I made 30 posts. I know that there is huge competition in the technology market but technology is a market that will never stop as new technology comes by daily.
Since it was first started it has an average of 130 visits per month with a total of 1566 visits for the whole year. These visits are 100% search engine searches. The blog is pure white hat and has had no marketing watsoever. I don't know about you guys n girls but I think that a blog which only has been updated once in a whole year with 30 posts and this much traffic could be quite a nice money maker if hard work is put into it. Basically this is a nice aged domain with some nice traffic for an untouched blog so I thought that the best thing to do would be to make aged posts for all of the months I have missed out so that I have some good content and once I get everything updated I was thinking of sending around 100K black hat traffic each month for the first two months while continuing to add new posts. After these two months of black hat traffic I would then add advertisements to the blog site from maybe adsense and others... etc. And I would continue it as a white hat blog generating white hat traffic. Currently the site has no advertisements at all, so no money is being made. I just need some opinions on what different people think and any useful advise would be much appreciated.

I don't know too much about traffic, but wouldn't it look a bit suspect, to suddenly start receiving 100k visitors a month ?
BTW, I had a similar idea, i.e. tech blog, but with site like hexus and anandtech etc, it may be a bit hard.

Yeah it would be quite wierd but I think this might help and plus for these two months I would have no ads at all in order not to get banned from adsense etc.

Isn't there a chance that you could get de-listed by Google ?

Why not (starting asap) start off slowly, by putting your links in forum signatures etc, and start with 1000 visitors per day. Every 3 or 4 days you can "add" some more signatures etc , and make it look like you have a genuine source of traffic building, while on the down low, you're really doing whatever you want to build your traffic, and that way you can build up to 100k (eventually) and still look legit ;)

BTW, somebody else could come along and say the complete opposite (so don' take me as an authority on this, lol), as I'm still learning about traffic and google etc.

What is the purpose of sending 100K blackhat traffic to your site? I'm not sure if I see the point since you're not doing affiliate marketing or selling a product. To get new readers?

This would be to raise the alexa rank a little bit and to boost the site up a little bit. Ofcourse it would have many backlinks by then. etc... I dunno but I think it could bring some good results.

Nope that's not my site. :) I said "a year ago" and this site has been registered on 2008-10-23. lol

Gadget/Tech blogs really need daily updates of around three articles, all of which should be at least 100 words and contain at least 1 photo. When you come to think of it, it's really not a lot of wiritng involed, 300 words takes me just under 10 minuites to write, photos are easy, finding new gadgets/tech to wirte about, once again, easy. I'd suggest using google adsence and amazon affilates in order to gain revune, although you may have a better idea, I wouldn't suggest investing in gaining traffic, although you could invest in buying unique content, you'd be looking at $3/day for the article amounts I stated above, if you earn more then this a day with adsence alone, your fine. :)

hmm I guess it was a good choice to renew the domain on jan :)
@Alex Brooks, When I first started it I made like 10 posts a day for 3 days and I got some nice traffic for a few day old site which I found great but then I had no time. Now I need to update around 400 articles which are 400 to 600 words each for the past year, so it won't be easy since I will be doing this manually...
