I was given a .edu subdomain in the form of: http://word.word.word.edu
Its not the greatest url in the world but from what I have read a .edu can be useful. I've been throwing ideas around but haven't been able to decide how to get the most out of my newly acquired domain.

I would appreciate some suggestions of what I should do with it, or to let me know if I'm overestimating the value of the domain. Thanks

EDUs are generally useful in that they are considered topical authorities and sources of trust. EDUs are generally a restricted registration, and tend to be, well... relevant and trustworthy.

An EDU would be a great place to host some content that is pretty legit and relevant for linking to other "relevant" sites in need of a Trust boost. Creating some kind of data hub might be a good way to go.

i agree with goawayplease ... your best bet is to put quality content on there and use it as one of your resources for backlinks ..

i know others would be tempated to use it as a parasite host, however i think long term benefits of having a .edu to drop links would outweigh short term benefits of ranking for 'buy viagra'

I would love to host my parasites on that edu? No just joking edus is a good ad on to your methods of building links. EDU's is always good and if you check out harros's methods of building links this is one part of the program to successful link buildilng. And he hit it head on as i have been doing this for a while...

Maybe you could spin some education-themed PLR articles and put it on that website.

just my $0.02

Make it an article site. Charge people to post articles on the site. Let them include 2 links or something.
