Over the last 16 months I have grown over 15m likes on Facebook. And it's safe to say I have had my fair share of pitfalls and successes. One of the things however, that I see many people failing to capitalise is on is when a piece of content is going viral on their page. This is where most people don’t know how or where to capitalise and most will be happy something is gaining a lot of traction and won't think quick as to how they can act on that. If something you have posted is going viral on it’s own (or from shares) on your page then there are ways to capitalise on it before it dies out. I highly recommended trialling all these methods and see what works for you - every page dependant on niche is different but I have found the aspects below to be generalisable to most pages. • Don’t wait for it to die out! Which is what most people do, they will be content (pardon the pun) and happy with the post that instead of figuring out growth hacking strategies they just watch the numbers go up on that piece of content. • Find similar content that you can put up for the next few hours on your page because a lot of people will be checking it out so you want to have other great material being posted out. So if you had a really good video or photo you were saving to put up later don’t wait, schedule it asap! • To maximise on even more people coming to your page, add a witty comment as top comment with a link of your page and the preview enabled on the post that is going viral. • Add a credit tag to your page in the main caption “Like @PageUsername for more” - you can then use the Page App (if on iOS) to track how many clicks that tag is getting over time. (You just click on the orange Reach bar for this) • Use Page Buttons and make your button link to another video or your site etc (as said above, because a lot of people will be checking out your page and some like to click on the About/Website sections etc just in general, to be nosey or if they have a genuine interest. • Pin the post to the top of the page. I can’t 100% confirm that this gives more reach to the post but I’ve found a viral video always seems to grow quicker if it pinned ASAP on your page. Try it out and see if it works for you. • Run a little ad on the post - because it is going viral a small amount will typically reach more people as the algorithms are giving your post more space on people’s news feeds already so Facebook will favour this. • Share the post in viral groups, if its going well on your page it’s likely to also engage many people as long as the audience is suited to this.
