    HI all,

I just built a lot of backlinks to my site and 926 of them have already been picked up by Yahoo!

But today when I checked my site's SERP ranking in G and Y!, it told me that I was nowhere in top 1000 :(

Whats going on? I'm pretty much confused

What niche are you in? That can make a big difference. Have you checked to see how many the competition have?

The niche is "Auto loan" but the keyword I'm targeting has medium competition. #1 site has only 1800 backlinks indexed in Yahoo.

Maybe you should. Backlink those backlinks and they will have a stronger effect.

Did you use only scrapebox for backlinks? If you did, there is your first mistake IMO. My research shows that non editorial backlinks don't have much SEO value.

The quality of the backlink has to be taken into consideration.
Quality is relative really, the whole system does work on the basis of who is linking to who. So as has been mentioned above build backlinks to your backlinks.

If you have built profile links from high PR web 2.0 property these are starting to become more and more redundant. Search Engines are reverting back to giving more value to content based backlinks like article ezines or blog networks [this is my experience]

Give it some time to exit the sandbox, meanwhile keep building links

Every link has value, but some will have much more than others. What you need to do is consider what each link's value is and consider your onsite SEO.

For instance, a link with no anchor text (i.e. the url for anchor text) will pass PR value to your site but no keyword value. It's better to put your keyword as the anchor text, such as puppies vs. http://dogstuff.com

Next, you're better off putting the keyword as anchor text. Then you can create link chains. So, remote page 1 has puppies on it (notice it points to remote page 2), remote page 2 has puppies on it (notice it points to remote page 3), and remote page 3 points to your site puppies. This makes it so that the last link in your chain has more keyword value than having no chain in place. If you can imagine a chain of hundreds of links, then this is crazy effective. Try it once, i bet you will be surprised at the results. (you'll want to use automated link building software or purchase links from a vendor, cuz doing it manually is crazy time consuming as you'll find out.)

Plus, make sure you have good onsite SEO going on, your keyword in the title tag for starters. It always surprises me when people are shocked that they aren't ranking and i look at their site and no keyword in the title tag. Google made it this way so that you can't rank a site that isn't relevant to the keyword (i.e. "Google bombing")

    Hope this helps.

You don't need to wait for your site to come out of the sandbox. You need to do better link building. If you wait, you'll be waiting for months, and I'm sure you don't want that.

900 backlinks is not going to rank you for auto loan or even in that niche without some major backlinks.

Get a few xrumer / scrapebox blasts and build several thousand backlinks, then you'll rank within the first 20 pages, and you can start going from there.

I had to build 135,000+ backlinks to rank for "hip hop" (without quotes) and about 8,500+ backlinks to rank for a specific well known musicians name to get on the first page.

135k+ backlinks got me to position 22 for "hip hop" (without quotes) and 8,500+ backlinks got me to position 20 for the musician name for my other site without quotes.

I've now changed direction and decided to rank for other bigger keywords.

So 900 backlinks is really nothing when you compare it to other sites.

For "auto loan" (without quotes), the first site has 75k+ backlinks, the second site has 2.7+ million backlinks, and the third site has 828k+ backlinks. I know your niche is auto loan, and not your main keyword, but you can see an estimate competitors' backlinks.

Bobbylove... Could I ask for a little clarification here? You said that 135,000+ backlinks got you to #20 for hip hop. When you say that, are you talking about direct backlinks to your site with appropriate anchor text? I assume that you are...

If that is the case, can you shed a little light on how you were able to accumulate so many backlinks? It seems to me that to get that kind of volume, you would need to use something like Xrumer, and my understanding is that it's not a good idea to use that tool to link back to your main site. Was Xrumer a part of your arsenal, and did you use it link back to your main site?

I would LOVE to accumulate that kind of volume, but am not sure how to go about doing it. Right now my tool belt includes AMR and highly-targeted Scrapebox blasts back to my money site. I've been going for about 6 weeks now, and I have roughly 1,500+ backlinks.

Over what period of time were you able to accumulate that # of links?

    Thank you for your input.
