I have sites where I have not done any SEO in over a year, that haven't ranked for shit. Over the past few days they've moved to top positions for keywords I was optimizing for 1-1.5 years ago.

Its the new algorithm, benefits some screwing others

they rolled out the new instant search yesterday too. don't know if i like that yet.

yeh its fast with each character, apparently the change is in google.com only .co.uk is still the same.

It is great, because now you can optimize to google suggested longtails.. of instant search, so longtail traffic will increases

The new algorithm is incorporating "Age" of a domain as a BIG factor.

And the "Age" of the domain is not when it was registered, but when it was first indexed into Google.

I've started to notice this for very competitive niches like weight loss, cars, etc.

And also if you try and type any "Adult" related keywords, the entire screen goes blank until you hit enter, so it doesn't give suggestions.

Some thing you should all start thinking about.... Google Instant can be very good for us, if you think about it right!!

Google Webmaster Tools / SEO

With Google Instant, you may notice an increase in impressions because your site will appear in search results as users type.

Q: Does Google Instant kill search engine optimization (SEO)?

A: No! Almost every new change at Google generates the question "Will X kill SEO?" Here's an video I did last year, but it still applies:

Q: Will Google Instant change search engine optimization?

A: I think over time it might. The search results will remain the same for a query, but it's possible that people will learn to search differently over time. For example, I was recently researching a congressperson. With Google Instant, it was more visible to me that this congressperson had proposed an energy plan, so I refined my search to learn more, and quickly found myself reading a post on the congressperson's blog that had been on page 2 of the search results.

Too early to share my idea's until fully tested and confirmed, but I can see money :)

Bobbylove321, where did you hear that the age of the domain is now a big factor? What about change of ownership impacting the Goggoe index date?

And I thought my backlinking was finally a good one... :) Today at one of my site many rankings disappeared and the rest jumped towards top positions. So the rest is probably in google dance...
I hope it moves on to go up in serps...

Liking it so far :) get some AWESOME traffic on most of my domains. I think age is a factor like someone said. My oldest domains and I mean some are 1997 are doing very well thank you very much :)

Yes, google is showing more back links now, it means some serious updates. another thing is new version of SEO Quake just after the updation of google

Yeah I wasn't really talking about Google Instant although the changes seem to have been carried out in parallel.

Not sure if age was a contributing factor. One of the domains that is ranking well is only 1 year old.
