Just a theory. Like a lot of officers, this one probably just got back from Iraq or something and is still in that "mode". Roughing up Iraqi civilians is not at all frowned upon. You pretty much have to do whatever is necessary to get them to understand that you are in control and they just need to shut the heck up. Stopping ANY vehicle is normal and if they don't stop, you shoot it.

Maybe in defence of the cop; Seems like some PTSD to me. If I am wrong on this theory, than that cop is a real A** and needs to be behind bars.

Yeah I saw this a few days ago. The cop wouldn't let the ambulance carry a patient to the hospital for no apparent reason I can see. That guy needs to be thrown in jail from the looks of it.

Holy shit, you dont even know how pissed off i just got. Thats the 1 thing that gets me going, and thats people abusing power... he should die. As tough as that sounds, that cop should think before he acts that crazy. That is the absolute worst thing in my book.

That's just sickening. The cop should definitely be brought up on some pretty serious charges for that. I don't know much about legal terms, but this seems like it would be something like reckless endangerment/misuse of authority.

It's actually a violation of the 4th amendment and an unreasonable, unlawful seizure. There was no probably cause or reason for arrest. I think he may have said something in the video like "you ran that red light". Well they're in an ambulance, I don't know about Oklahoma but in almost every state there's a statute that allows for emergency vehicles to proceed through traffic signals at the driver's discretion granting that they've signaled to traffic and the way is clear.

Now the 4th amendment is usually thought of as referring mainly to warrants (courtesy of the same case that made it applicable to the states which I believe was Mapp vs. Ohio in conjunction with the 14th amendment, but I'm not sure on that one). But it also refers to the detention of individuals by a governmental authority (i.e. the pigs).

So for the cops to detain that ambulance they'd have to have PROBABLE cause that someone in the vehicle was committing a crime at that time. By making that arrest they basically swore, on their badges and personal accountability, that they believed that a crime was being committed when they pulled the ambulance over. And as we've already mentioned the right regarding traffic of an emergency vehicle... well you get the point.

Usually damages against police departments are capped (which is garbage. In Florida it's something like $100,000 so if you go to prison wrongfully for 30 years you can sue for $100,000 max) so even if that guy's Mom died, they'd only pay him up to X amount and the cop might just lose his job unless they could prove negligence or criminal intent.

WOW that was supposed to be a 2 sentence post to answer doseph's pseudo question. Sorry about that.
