You just landed a new SEO client and no expectations have been set. The client is open to your suggestions. That is exactly the situation I am in. I want to lock this client in so I own him for life and have him pay me monthly, while at the same time provide incredible SEO value that his business cannot live without.

At the beginning thought is to establish quick win page one rankings by focusing in on long tail, low competition keywords. That way within 1-2 months the client can actually see results. Also focusing on more competitive keywords that will take longer to rank.

Connecting with several private blog networks from BHW and other places to build link juice.

What do you guys think and what can you suggest?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

There's more to it than just delivering results with SEO, you must always remember to: - Build rapport. This is the biggest thing most people miss and yet it's the most important. Become close to the client, take an interest in them, be a people person not a internet geek. - Over deliver and under promise. Quote $1,000, and when finished explain it's only going to cost $700, build trust. I'd start with long-tails, rank more pages, then go after comp terms.

I would suggest to start charging after 30 days when some results you can show, and do not promise like ranking #1 in 3 months, it is better to say, that desired rankings will b e achieved in 6 months or smth.

Between me and you, I study hypnosis and NLP, $hit is power full to the 10th power. I appreciate your feedback and you are absolutely right on the rapport note! One of the most powerful rapport building techniques you can do is matching and mirroring shown here:

This is a very good idea, i'll link him to a bunch of private blog networks and make the investment up front and once he ranks if he doesn't want to pay me for my hard work, i'll simply tell the boys back home to cut the links! Has anyone tried that number?

Be confident but not over confident. Client will stick to you if you can prove that his investment on SEO is going to bring huge returns soon. Thats the key in my opinion.

Works pretty well. Preparation is the key, and goals are VITAL - as is managing the clients expectations, essp if they thiunk they know it all.

Finally - don't be afraid to walk away. You're selling your SEO skills not your soul.

What I do or did, was before even getting the client I did a free offer where I would rank their video on Youtube and Google in less than a week so they can see results, and then pitch them on doing SEO on their website. Makes things much easier :)

You might also want to try selling your services on Ebay. The top SEO on there is some guy who posts a picture of himself. I tried selling a similar service but I didn't make any sales. It seems like he's hogging up all the business. He has his own business name and website to help legitimize himself He also has quite a bit of feedback which proves what he can do.

Depending on what industry your client is in, there will always be opportunities for you to help him update content and increase/keep his rankings. Phase new Micro-Niche Sites in and out over time if he's got new products or services he can offer. Once you show him results and he realizes that it takes your efforts to maintain the increased exposure, you should have him locked in.

    My Advice is This :

provide a good service (so they don't get any complaints from you Spamming somewhere)
don't make excuses - just get them good rankings
    pick good keywords
don't undercharge on the price - or don't discount too much - Google changes all the time and can increase the cost to do what you do
provide excellent easy to understand reporting
diversify links as much as possible
encourage them to have some social media presence (or seperate service)

that's it really : quality = long term happy client spam = pissed off client and no monthly $$$$

This is 100% solid advice! Being a people person is a must!

I've learned that over the years that a lot of businessmen/women like the closeness of an SEO Company and like to feel as if they're the only company you're doing work for. Custom reports also go a long way, try not too deliver reports that are too in depth and complicated as I have also learned that businessmen/women prefer numbers, they tend to process numbers and results better if they are able to measure them!
