Hi everyone!

I recently joined BHW to learn, share some insights and gather statistics on the current state of email marketing
for you all.

I would like to know;
1. What SMTP are you currently using for your email marketing?
2. Where are the problems you are facing with your current solution?
3. What is the conversion rate for your cold email marketing, based on mail opens, link click-throughs, and sales if any?

I look forward to your responses, thanks.

Hey man,
Welcome to BHW. Great to see you around learn something valuable.
For regular transactional emails in low volume, we use Gmass and Postal mail server. For high volumes sending as marketing and cold emails, we use a custom build SMTP with MailerQ and PowerMTA.

Thanks for your response. Could you please share conversion insights?

In my experience I find MailerQ a bit complicated to setup but it's by far scalable than the other MTAs and faster than PowerMTA.

Postal is my favorite these days because of many reasons, a very nice clean interface than powerMTA and you can track everything and generate SMTP credentials in seconds on your verified domain. In minutes you would be creating 100s of SMTP credentials so far you've got all your domains or client's domains registered or authorized in postal. You can group IPs into poolsand determine which user you want to assign an IP pool too or which are authorised to send emails with those IPs. These way you can classify spammers into a spammed to death pool that they deserve. And assign clean IPs to the good guys. Webhooks, spam and antivirus protection, lightweight.and what not..

People don't talk about Postal that much but it's a pretty powerful beast optimized for database too as it uses MariaDB and can be compatible with litespeed and redis server environments.

As with conversion insights, most often it's not the SMTP or mailer that determines conversion rates as long as your IPs and domains and SMTPs are clean. What you want to check for conversion rates is your email sale copy and the target audience resonance. Are you sending to the wrong audience? Is the list dead? Is your email subject line worthy of my two seconds, let alone read your entire message in your email? Are you obviously too salesy...

These are the questions that you want to find your way around to make a bank.

1. When the word cold email marketing comes up, your options narrow down because not many companies allow cold mailing. You must create your own space and update or move things when they get blacklisted.
2. As said above blacklist , re-launch , shifting multiple places in short perioid may happen in cold email marketing unless your provider allows or understands your mailing type.
3. It's entirely based on what you're sending and to whom. AVG is 2 to 60% Open rates and 0.5 to 20% click rates. Conversions are hard to tell because not every customer who opens or clicks will buy unless your list is highly targeted.

Welcome to BHW.

Good Luck :)

Alright, thanks for these insights.

I use SendGrid for my email marketing. But I've faced challenges with cold emails landing in spam folders, as SendGrid is primarily designed for opt-in communications. To improve deliverability, I focus on authenticating my email domain and maintaining proper IP allocation. In my experience, cold email conversion rates vary, but achieving a 0.5% to 2% conversion rate is common, depending on factors like industry and email content.

  1. I purchase a domain and set up Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) on it.
    • The cost for an email address is approximately $12, which lasts for a year.
  2. Using this setup, I can send a total of around 600,000 emails annually.
    • I can send up to 2,000 emails per day.
  3. For my email marketing needs, I use a tool called Leadspyer.
    • Leadspyer allows me to configure as many SMTP servers as I need for effective email sending.
  4. Leadspyer also includes an email warmup feature, which is highly effective.
    • This feature helps improve email deliverability and ensures my emails land in the recipients' inboxes.
Note : I can purchase as my email from google workspace depending upon the amountof email I want to send.

This approach provides me with a cost-effective and efficient solution for managing email marketing campaigns

Alright cool, have you used created SMTP servers for cold email marketing before?

Hi, thanks for your response but I couldn't find the ability to setup servers and warm it up at leadspyer.

MailerQ is powerful. I'm currently using Mailgun—the main issue is inboxing consistency.

Have you tried mautic?

Have you tried mautic?
Mautic is not an smtp so it doesn’t compare directly with what I said above. The last time I checked it is a mailer just like Mailwizz and Acelle. never tried it tho.

All or most mailers are basically the same. Their function is to host your email content, manage campaigns etc. but you still need an MTA, SMTP or API separately to connect with these mailers.

Yeah mautic is actually a mailing software

Do you mean Mailgun does not inbox consistently?

For cold email marketing, selecting the right SMTP service is critical to ensure high deliverability, avoid spam folders, and comply with email regulations.

I used amz ses for few campaign, but when I went to use it on bulk it just banned me, now I am going to use mailgun so yeah that's what I am doing. But ses delivarity was good.

Alright, that sounds great. When do you intend to use MailGun?
