I have never been this committed to a project, it's about a year in the making now. I need advice on where I go next to bump this up to the next level. Here is my situation.

I have moved on from the smaller MFA sites and decided to attempt to make more of an authority site. At this time I have probably 60-70 articles posted to this site. It's currently over 1 year old (since May) and is getting around 500 hits a day organically. I have done no link building on my own, none. I have collected a few backlinks that are purely whitehat and came because someone needed my content. My articles are rarely under 1000 words, and sometimes over 2000 words. I have put a LOT of work into this site, and I am being patient with it. I plan on adding content almost every day and not stopping at all. I am getting some good ranking, even without any kind of link building. I know 500 a day isn't a huge feat, but it is with only content creation at this point. The problem is, most of my keywords are sitting around page 2,3 or 4. Not super far back, but also not close enough to the front page to get a huge chunk of traffic. Most of my traffic at this point is from a few highly ranked pages with a lot of long tail hits. Here is how it's looking currently.

What should I do at this point? If there is anything I missed that you need to know I'm completely up for answering some questions. Please, don't try to sell me an expensive SEO service, I have done that before and drove sights into the ground. I'm just curious on what everyone thinks I should do next to get this site to the next level?

You didn't tell what you want to do with it. You only told us that you will continue to add articles for it, everyday maybe.

If I were you, I would probably start building PBN for that website, slowly..

Also try to spread a word, depending on the niche, there are a lot of non spammy ways to get more traffic. Social media always helps. If you only want to gain backlinks naturally more traffic will help.

I would start by optimizing the pages onpage better. This is where you can gain a few spots especially if you did not really tighten it up. The problem with thousand word articles it that you can lose keyword focus quickly, especially you did not use headings to help define your content.

Annother thing you might consider is giving them 600 to 700 words on page 1 and having them navigate to the second page of content for the rest. It not only help maintain focus, the second page can actually target a related keyword. It also will really boost your customer engagement, and lower your bounce rate.

Get out there in social media and participate in your niche, set up google alerts for all the Q&A sites with your keyword so you can give answers when the opportunity pops up.

Work on your page load speed, and mobile experience. Mobile experience is going to be big.

I have been ranking such sites from last 2 years ... some of the pages are already on 2nd position. I would suggest you to make links to the homepage and then to the inner pages. Target those inner pages which have good number of searches.

With some quality links you can see the change in rankings, very soon.

EDIT: Focus on your on page seo. Using 500+ words content is good, but make sure you have the right amount of keyword density with proper title and meta description.

The description does not help you rank. Make it like an ad that compels someone to click on it.

The descriptions job is to get a click, not help rank.

If it helps in getting the click conversion, yes, if not no.
