Here is a question that is asked usually. I thought this was a very good question and answer.

The first and most important thing an affiliate should not do is give up. In any business you must have patience and learn all you can learn about the business and how everything works. You cannot learn everything in one day.

The second thing an affiliate should not do is expect instant payment and instant riches. Have you heard of any business where people got paid and became rich immediately? I haven't. I don't think you have either. It takes work, hard work. Even when you work in a field to harvest grain or fruit, you have to pick what you harvest in the hot sun and work your muscles and keep moving. You get paid according to the work you put in during each day's work. You get what you put into the work.

The third thing an affiliate should not do is rush through the site and all the links to gain VP without really reading and understanding what is written in every area on the site and saving or printing the information so that it can be referred to later offline. There is no room for laziness here. It is important to read, read and read some more. You never stop reading or learning.

The final thing that affiliates should not do is neglect studying the rules and policies, and, for that matter, any business venture. Rules are made to be followed. This prevents others from getting hurt. It also ensures there is fairness. If you don't familiarize yourself with the rules and policies, you could find yourself out of the business, without any hope of returning. You could also find yourself in a worse situation with the laws of your country or, for that matter, God's laws. Again, these are to be followed for your good and the good of everyone else.

May this answer be of help to you in your work with your affiliates.

Have a productive and successful day!

Thank You!

Those are good points, and there is not much to add. But still, a few minor points which may be useful:

- don't copy, do your research, come up with something unique that works best for you. basically, you should have considered this before becoming the affiliate;
- don't remain the same - it is the path to stagnation. When you stay in one place, you actually move towards failure. test -> choose -> fail/succeed -> test... The earlier you make it a habit, the better;
- don't (always) blame the merchant for failure. When you become his affiliate, it implies you have some trust in him already. He is there to provide you with an opportunity, help you to start and move on, meet you behind the finish line tape with a reward, but not lead you by the hand to the prize.

I guess all of them are relevant to all of your time as an affiliate, not just to the first month. But one should bear these in mind right from the start.

Great points. Don't give up is the first thought I had after reading the topic and it is most important ;)

don't ever buy a "course" on affiliate marketing, the person selling it is probably a failed affiliate marketer

actually, the failed affiliate marketer probably threw together the course, and an actual affiliate is promoting it to you - you are just a number to them

basically, if you buy a course on affiliate marketing, you're a sucker

You should always know that you will lose money before you make money. Don't give up because you spent $50 and only made $3. Be the tortoise!
Always Always Always be testing!

course on affiliate marketing is definately not the winning strategy :)

I completely agree with You. For the first 3 - 4 month, affiliate loose money because the majority of clients just send not relevant traffic, however, even within this traffic 1 - 2 potential clients will be a good cash cow that will cover all previous expenses. So, don't afraid to loose money unless You already lost a lot of them.

Still, as a affiliate marketer You should be careful about scams, prepayments and other not ethical people's behavior
