Hi folks, there has been a lot of turmoil recently with the banning of blog networks and the "over optimization" penalties being talked about. I'm making this thread so we can share what we have noticed or what is working in regards to SEO.

I'll start off with my observations...

First off, anchor text diversity is a huge importance now. You can't just blast your site with "keyword". Gotta switch it up and use "click here", "http://siteurl.com", related KW's, etc.

I've also noticed that social bookmarks are still working really well, after buying a 500 bookmark blast for one of my pages with targets a keyword with 50k exact matches it jumped to #20.

I've tried using 2.0's in various ways, but haven't noticed any extraordinary results. Really out of all the things I've tried lately nothing seems to working very well except for social bookmarks. With google cracking down on blog networks and over optimization SEO is starting to get very tricky.

    Please share your opinions!

Actually some services here are great after Panda, and yes Link Diversity has to be good.
I noticed a quite a few of people who buy my SEO service USE their main keyword and something like "click here" , or even both (Sometimes the DIRECT url itself as anchor)

You have to make it look as natural as possible.

Try concentrating on Social Media sites as well, Facebook, Google+ etc.

G's algo is still weighing heavily toward backlinks from social media sites (a diversity). I've also found raw links (no anchor txt) to help boost rankings.

Lately everything has been so random with G with Panda, it's hard to say what now works.

If I had to list what's still working:

    1) Backlinks from social media sites, including Google +, Facebook, Pinterest
    2) Banklinks from YouTube
    3) Original content on site (or very well spun).
    4) a Press Release - gives a lot of backlinks from a diverse source of sites.
    5) Raw URL links to your site.
    6) Articles still work, but I'd avoid the blog networks. Use guest post sites instead.

I don't know if this works or not, but I've seen some competitors buy aged domains with PR, then 301 redirect to the money site. Then build backlinks to the aged domain. Saw this strategy result in page 1 rankings for PI attorney sites with incredible results.

    I'll be trying that soon.

I am seeing social bookmarks work, too. I haven't done an experiment where they work alone (My sites are pretty white hat, always have a small amount of natural link juice already), but the social bookmarks definitely give you a big boost.

What I am most concerned with/curious about, is order and pacing. I am still in my first year of hardcore SEO learning, but I am starting to pick up the sense that fast + furious zero-to-sixty activities around a domain are a bad thing. Yet most of the paid services and training seem to focus on "standalone" tactics and tools. It seems possible that each individual tool is relatively valid. But that when done in combination with others too quickly, it's bad.

I don't want anybody to give away their secrets, but people seems to talk about other pet tactics a lot, so I might as well ask here- what are people's opinions on a "sabotaging" combination of SEO events for a domain?

everybody has posted really good additions to this post. thanks!

to give my own twist, i know alot of people including myself that still has alot of success with high authority guest posts. Posting articles on high authority blogs, than juicing those links with social bookmarking etc.

seems to work well, i rank on page 1 within 6 days, and #1 within 1-2 months.

Yup, I'm focusing on Social very heavily now.

    Ain't that the truth lol

Thanks for sharing, I actually just put in an order for a press release. I haven't used PR's much in the past so I'm excited to see what happens.

While I agree that diversifying the anchor text is important to make it seem natural I still think in any seo strategy the keyword that your ranking for should be used at a higher percentage as from my results its one of the main factors that is used by Google to actually rank your site for that particular word.

My Strategy is simple as many different link types as possible. Pure diversification. Unique content on all tier 1's, at a minimum the route article that is being spinned must be a freshly written 100% unique. Scraping articles is pretty dangerous if you ask me unless you know what your doing to make it work. Dont make it to systematic try and be as random as possible while at the same time keeping a consistent amount of backlinks everyday slowly inscreasing. People worry about link velocity, link velocity is only a problem if your in-consistent and leave footprints. A site that is doing well will naturally build more and more links everyday some quicker than others. It can look unatural if your building 500 links one day then a week later another 500 and then a week later another 500. I try and build links every day while gradually increasing the amount everyday to make it look more natural. I dont recomend pinging all links all at once. I usually have them dripped over 7 days, the longer the better really.

You've got to climb the tree. That is - do stuff that people in the "low hanging fruit crowd" won't do. Basically, leave really good comments, make videos, write unique content with pictures, stuff like that.

Back link diversity, I try to use up to at least 60+ generic anchors for my link building now. Notice an even more importance on content and bigger websites. Had one site go up the rankings quite well passed week, all I've been doing is minimal linking but I've been adding pages and 500+ word content daily.

I think we just have to be robust and creative in getting unique ideas to promote the sites.

Just came across an interesting blog post at fromideatoempire d0t com - called "Is This The End of Link Building? Blog Networks Speak Out!"

Michelle MacPhearson interviews a few blog network owners about Google putting the hammer down. Interesting read.

For example LUKAB has a service that rocks... I still love that he gives advice without plugging his own service. Nice job!
