I want to start a forum for one of my membership sites. Can anyone recommend any free or cracked forum scripts?

BHW is on VBulletin, available freely on plenty of torrent sites but remember that if you have an open forum it would also be very easy for the VB team to find.

Cracked versions are not advisable as they do not come with patches or support.
You will probably get compromised real fast if you use outdated scripts.

And what do they do to me if they find it?
I was going to make it a private forum for my membership.

So are there any other scripts that are maybe better and free or cracked?

I have no problem with buying one, it's just I don't know how much of a long haul ill be using it.

PHPBB is the best open source forum script in my opinion. Loads of free styles available too.

    I always recommend Vanilla.

The last forum I was seriously active on ran on Vanilla. Better than vB in my opinion. YMMV

BHW uses Vbulletin 3.8 . If you are looking for free scripts try phpbb.

just buy vbulletin, its like $100 a year. Cracked versions of vbulletin will get you hacked, cause server problems, and get you a ton of complaints from vbulletin to your host.

MyBB is another free option, I preferred it over phpbb.

vBulletin is definitely worth the buy more or less with the release of 4.0. There are cracked versions out there which you can use if you it's only a short term project. 4.0 comes with enough features as it is so you wouldn't really be needing any extra mods, or if you do want them again there are versions all round the web.

On the other hand, I'd recommend you go with SMF. Definitely one of the best free forum softwares in my opinion. More user friendly than PHPBB and provides almost the same amount of stuff in terms of customizations.
