I've been doing some research on yelp and stumbling through trying to get comments past the review filter (what a pain) and have come across a good deal of "Yelp Elite" members. These people sometimes have friends & review counts in the 1000's.
Do you guys think they are employed by yelp? Or maybe they just offer ratings to companies for money? Their reviews seem to never get filtered. I almost would like to reach out to some of them in my area to see if they'd be willing to post a review but I'm not sure their background or how they would respond..
It just seems so odd that they would put so much effort into Yelp and not be getting paid. I do realize there are "Yelp Elite Special Events" but those don't seem like good enough justification for the time involved.
Anyone have any ideas about these "Yelp Elite" or some great methods for getting reviews past the filter (I've already tried the, keep your account active, check in, link with FB etc...)
