With smartphones and AI tools making video production more accessible, I’m curious whether technical quality still matters most or if strong storytelling and genuine audience engagement have become more important.

What has your experience been?

I think technical quality has become more of a baseline than a competitive advantage. For organic content, storytelling and entertainment can carry a video pretty far. But for paid ads, I'd add one more layer: the creative has to communicate the value proposition extremely quickly. I've seen simple-looking creatives outperform much more polished videos simply because the message and angle were stronger. So for me it's less about “quality vs storytelling” and more about: Hook → angle → message clarity → pacing → production quality. Production quality still matters, but I wouldn't spend an extra 10 hours polishing a video if the underlying concept isn't strong. I'd rather use that time to test 3–5 different concepts.

In all honesty i would prefers to watch an unfinished video all the way through than not remember a finished one within the vry first 10 seconds. The response of the viewer was really the true quality control measure.
