For run on mac you use parallels but you need to have a windows image (iso), you dont choose express install, just regular install.

You don't have bootcamp? Which system are you running? IT'S ON THE SYSTEM DISK MAN! You will need an XP install disk w. reg #. (or crack)

VirtualBox is open source and available on Windows,Mac,Linux and other systems. Try that there is plenty of documentation out there when you search for it via the big G.

If you have OSX then you do have Boot Camp. I'd suggest using that.

Go to finder or Click that little icon in the upper right hand corner... then begin typing "Boot Camp" and you will see Boot Camp Assistant, launch that.

It is provided freely on OSX so unless your Mac is fairly old you should have it.

From there, just follow the steps provided, I'd recommend printing them out to follow while installing Windows.

Ive literally downloaded everything suggested in this thread.

The problem is once i download it , install it, its the actual virtual machines themselves which is the problem. I dont have any! when i start the software i get one of thoes black startup windows screens with greyish white writing that says something like "no virtual machine to run" or something like that.

    UGHHHHH

Virtual Machines still need and OS to boot (this is an image just like on a windows cd). Maybe check a wikipedia entry for what a VM does and it will shed some more light. After you get past that point search for "Creating Seamless Virtual Machine with Virtualbox 1.6". This will give you a step by step picture tutorial that anyone can follow. If you can't make sense of this then I doubt you should even consider any type of virtual machine.

    I suggest you dont.
I have a macbook first edition and ran parallels for about 6 months until I was going bold from pulling my hair because of both os's took so much ram and cpu that the whole thing was sluggish and unbearable and I had 2G ram on it. (the most)
So I ended up getting a new laptop at best buy for $500 and it works great OR if you can't afford that just get an older pc and run it "headless" via remote desktop which is almost like having the osx running on your mac.
    Best of both worlds imho.

Parallels works perfectly for me. Go to the Pirate Bay and sort the Mac applications by seeds. It's one of the first ten or twenty there. Downloaded it, works like a charm. Where's our rep?
