    Hey guys,

What motivates you to do internet marketing? Are you doing it for the money, or do you just love it because it is like a hobby to you?

I LOVE the marketing part of it, just not the internet part. For some reason, I just don't like spending too much time on the computer, whether it is playing video games, surfing the web or whatever. I've seen people with a lot of posts on various forums and I wonder how much time did they spend to write those posts.

I guess you can say I'm someone who prefers to spend my time going to places and talking to people (like Obama lol). I was in downtown Brooklyn (NYC) a few weeks ago and I felt good when I saw so many people and tall buildings.

I know I can always outsource things and don't have to do much. But all play without work isn't the type of lifestyle for me. They always say do what you are passionate about so that work actually feels like play. Maybe I can do marketing where I deal with people on a daily basis (trying to think of a marketing business idea). I don't have a college degree so I can't do anything that requires one. What do you think?

What do you love and hate about internet marketing?

The Freedom to work when I want, where I want.
I work WAY more hours than I did when I had a "regular" job, but I enjoy what I do and get to spend more time with my family.

Money, Freedom, and I like to code. I'm just getting started, but I definitely want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I like the money, freedom of location + time, challenge of it, and the ability to travel and live other places is amazing.

I strongly dislike the lack of a social element to it, not seeing or interacting with co-workers on a daily basis can be lonely at times. It can also be difficult to connect with friends when they all work 9-5's and they look forward to the weekend so much, but everyday is a weekend for you if you want it to be.

I have a dream: to sit on a beach with nothing but a laptop and make more money with 5 clicks of a mouse than a 'regular' person makes in a week. I also like to do things my own way, because i'm more aware of my strengths and weaknesses.

For me it's the money and the freedom. It just feels good knowing that if I have shit to do on a certain day or just feel like being lazy and sitting around, I can do it without asking for permission from a boss.

Or if I get wasted on a weekday, I know I don't have to wake up and go to work the next day like everyone else I hang out with.

Or being able to take a vacation without asking your boss for time off.

    And so on....

Making more money than all those people with jobs is great too.

I do agree with MrE though that we IMers sometimes lack the social experience that those with "normal" jobs have. Not that I would trade my lifestyle for theirs, but I will admit that there are times where I miss working with other people and interacting with them or just fuckin around at our job.

I am basically a noob, but I am making progression. IM is technically my fulltime career cus I do not have a job and am living off of financial aide (in Grad School) for the time being. But my motivation is so many things. I have a disabled sister who does not believe in herself but has so many dreams so I do it for her. I figured if I could be an example maybe she would not feel that way. I have alot of life aspirations myself and hope to give back to the world some day..so sometimes I do it for me and my future.

Alot of times I do it because I love trying to figure out how things work..what makes people click on stuff, what provokes a sense of emotion to peek interest... but at the end of the day I hope to get money. I have been reading for a year and just started officially the past two months or so (the money part) in December I put up like 5 blogs just to learn. I do it for learning too...

Everyday I wake up inspired to be free though, I'm working on it..one day this year I plan to be..free from college debt or atleast half..free from corporate pressures, free from society that tells you only certain people can dream and not you.

    Thats why I do it!

Well, I'm only 16. Everyone says I'm hardheaded so I doubt
I can last an average 9-5. Internet marketing seems to fit my
personality, and I can be my own boss, and not take bullshit
    orders.

Damn, took the words right out my mouth!

I do it for the exact same reasons but also miss the social aspect of working in a 'real' job.

Having said that, the benefits definetly outweigh the cons.

I think it IM is rather boring so I only do it for the money. It´s quite easy and you can work at home and whenever you like.

The SEO-part is rather interesting but selling YT-accounts, browsing through new software (vseo is of course an exception goblin ;) ) and hiring people to write articles in boring as hell in my opinion.
