I know this is a old topic, but I still not sure what is the best metrics to base on to choose the right domains?
I will list some metrics I want to ask below:

DA, TF: how much is good? Are they reliable? I read some posts here and elsewhere they have very different say about this. some says should choose TF over DA, some say TF is useless and choose DA.

Ref Domains: How many is good? I often choose 10. but is it too low? or should I look for many Ref. domains as much as possible?

Backlinks: how to determine which is a good backlinks, which is spam ones? Does the backlinks come from not-popular TLD considered spam? If domains have 1-2 authority backlinks, but less than 10 Ref. domains. should I choose them?

Anchor text / History Archive : If the domains have backlink from very authority site, but then later it was used for some Chinese/Japanese website, is it good? I've seen A LOT of them.
Should I avoid shop related domains?

Does related niche anchor text / backlinks required?

I noticed over the years the different from 15 DA and 20 DA is fucking huge. When I built my PBN I wasn't even looking at the DA but some time ago I looked at my PBN's metrics and noticed 80% of them have 20+ DA.

I like 15+ TF and 20+ referring domains at the very least but I stopped taking domains with less than 50 referring domains. I buy my domains tho so I can be picky. Scraping is a bit harder.

If the metrics look good then I check the link profile and look for contextual links. Directory links are 100% fine if:

    1. The OBL is below 50
    2. The page is close to the homepage. If the page is close to the homepage it will usually have TF.

    I skip the chinese websites

No the domains do not HAVE to be niche related

Yeah, like asap1 said. I also started small. 5 TF, few referring domains then you buy a bunch and you learn your lessons. I now don't take anything below 15 TF and at least 20 referring domains.

I feel like a parrot already, but I will repeat myself nonetheless. Metrics are just a filter.
Trust Flow is based on the word "trust", it's not Power Flow or Strength Flow, it's Trust flow.

Primarily it's based on the topical relevance. That means, if the website has 20 ref domains and 20 are from the recreation/outdoors niche, it will have a high Trust Flow, even though these backlinks have OBL of 500+. Is this domain useless? Yep, pretty much. Does it have a high trust flow? Yes. Do we get it? YEAAAAH! Do we want it? NOOOO!

So, basically, use Trust Flow merely as a primary filter. Also, from my experience, rather set your personal filter higher referring domain wise.
So instead of TF15+ and RD10+, go for TF10+ and RD15+.
I lowered my personal filter to TF10+ and hell, I am finding a lot of lovely domains. It all comes down to quality of the backlinks, not the metrics.

About the DA, sometimes it's really off. But minimum you should go for is 10. Ideally above 15+. However it's really just something to make you sleep better at night, because most of the time it's like more backlinks (not referring domains) = higher DA.

There's an article by Nick Flame that I read somewhere here, it's an old one but teaches a lot.

Because they help narrow down what sites are worth manually checking.

They also help gauge how much power 1 domain MAY have.

Min DA 20 +, preferably well aged along with a nice & natural link profile.

First of all never go after metrics because metrics can be manipulated easily and are not accurate at all , focus mostly on the backlink profile , does it have authority domains linking to it ?

Regarding the referring domains , I wouldnt touch anything with less than 10 RD , it all depends on the link juice really . An expired domain with only 2 links but this domain being linked from huffpost & mashable its way moch worth than another expired domain with say 100 RD but shitty links , quality over quantity every damn time

Once you have a small list , start checking sites on archive.org , if there are no huge gaps / chinese spams go for it otherwise move to the next domain .
