I've been doing some keyword research getting more into the adsense game. I really don't want to invest in a site that doesn't have the potential to hit $100 day, I know I can rank high competition stuff so that doesn't matter to me. What do you guys look at traffic and CPC wise for something that has the potential for $100 a day through adsense?

It's easy to just look at a program, do some math, and assume $100/day, but I don't think you can ever really know until you actually get the site ranked. High CPC and high number of searches are obviously a couple things to look for if you don't care about how hard it is to rank for the keyword.

Add competitive metrics to the list. I once got the brilliant idea to target "which digital camera"... look it up, big time traffic.. and it can be used as both an informational and a commercial phrase.. I was so pumped I ran out and registered whichdigitalcameras.org. THEN I checked the competition and holy shit.. let's just say the domain is still parked.

So unless you have some serious resources in other sites you own, be sure to guage the volume and strength of the competition for whatever phrase you're looking at.
