What makes comments go to the top of the page now?

I know it's not how many thumbs up they have anymore. Is it the comments with the most replies? I know there was a change in 2013 i think.

It's hard to figure out, anyone know?

You can actually change who gets priority in one the options.
You can make to where if the person who comments has over 500 subs or 2000, 10,000 etc. subscribers they get priority over regular users.

I made decent money when thumbing up comments to the top worked. I have many YouTube videos still ranking in Google and some videos get massive traffic and I have comments on the top and guess who comment it is... MINE! A lot of video owners with huge traffic are using those comments at the top of their video. My advice is to rank some low hanging fruit keywords and put your comments in those videos with different links. Top comments are a hit or miss and there are other ways to make a lot of money with YT then trying to get top comments. Besides I have a lot of other people comments on my videos and it is not effecting my sales.

YT top comment account is a primary condition. Subsribers don't influence at all.

First of all,your profile should be very good,well socially shared.Then your comment should be high quality,try to use High Quality Images and Videos with your comment.It will be on first for sure.
