Samsung Series 5 NP550P5C-T01US is what I was looking at, no touch screen though.

I'd recommend Dell computer too. This was my go to brand before switching to Apple.

I have a Macbook Pro, and I even think it's a bit overpriced.

I'm an IT-technician and I would definitely recommend Lenovo (IBM), Asus, HP and Sony. Don't go for Dell and Fujitsu Siemens, they are cr*p. Don't discuss with me, I know it from my job experiences. :)

For the price of most Mac laptops you can get a much powerful non-Mac. You are paying for a thin, light computer when you are buying a $2000 Mac...

Whatever you buy, just make sure it isn't HP or ACER.

    Basis:
My brother has been working as consultant for HP for many years now.
Every ACER product I ever owned has always had problems, people I know also have trouble with ACER.

I strongly disagree. Apple computers bring much more to the table then just appearance.

    Agreed.

I used to think they were overpriced as well but when I compare my Samsung series 5 laptop with my wife's Macbook Pro, which is 2 years older, I can tell immediately the difference in quality. Mine is already having all sorts of problems within less than a year of purchase whereas hers is working almost as good as the day it was bought.
