I've been running forums for the past 10 years, but it's been a while since I last started one. What kind of niche would you look at, to start a new forum? I don't care about competition, it's no problem for me to wipe the floor with it.

    So, suggestions?

Sexual fetishes. Or maybe cars. Or both. At the same time.

A decent, friendly Wordpress help forum. Btw you should write a tutorial on setting up forums. I have been meaning to set one up for a passion project of mine but the 2 competitive forums that already exists keep me from it.

Nah, anything porn related is a huge pain in the ass. People will post lots of pics/movies they don't have the rights to. So I'd be stuck cleaning up their crap, once the DMCA's start pouring in.

Cars, maybe. Not quite sure how to monetize that though, any suggestions?

Too much work for too little money.

I might, some day. For now I have way too much shit on my plate already, and I keep starting more new projects all the time LOL

I think other niches sucks for forums. Only working one is IM, CPA, Adult, Dating. Others niche are too hard to make money.

    How would you monetize it?

Might work. I'd need to do quite a bit of research on it though, not sure if I'm willing to put in the effort.

Absolutely. Not worrying about how to monetize that. I just don't like doing things that require quite a bit of research.

Was only joking with the fetish stuff, but the cars could be monetized by selling ad space rather easily, since car part sellers are constantly on the lookout for proper advertisement space.

Other option is to start producing some of your own merchandise, like mugs, shirts and wrenches.

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines myself. The only issue I see with that is that the demographics of the users would be spread all over the world, so it may be difficult to get advertisers who are looking to sell locally.

Yeah, that's way too much work for me LOL. Unless, of course, I could do some sort of dropshipping and have someone else process the orders, with zero involvement from me.

Hmmm, how about a women's fashion forum, how would you guys monetize that? And don't say Amazon, 4% commission makes baby Jesus cry. :D

How about a job-search related forum?
Finding jobs, writing CVs, expat experiences, etc.

Could work. Still not sure about monetization. I probably couldn't offer any kind of paid membership, since most people would be in and out, as soon as they find a job.
