I am able to hire a virtual assistant for 8 hours daily for a cheap rate, he doesn't have a lot of experience in SEO (so let's count that as a newbie in SEO), I want him to start linkbuilding for my sites.

What would you recommend him to do, what type of linkbuilding? Something that's not hard to understand :)

    Thanks

    3. Social bookmarking

All manual. He should be able to accomplish a lot in 8 hours.

manual stuff - so much effort.

How about, get him to email other webmasters in your niche requests to do 3 way link trades. Ideally sites in your niche but in a different country so their not competitors

i.e trade links between your satelite sites and there satelite sites.

bookmarks are working well at the minute, some posting with signature link on related forums to your niche, manual blog comments, profiles

well you could prety much could get him doing anything but you will have to train him as you say he is newbie, training would not take long and would be worth the effort :)

Creating forum profiles on related niche forums and posting is what I've done before, it works great. Not only do you get some usually high PR backlinks, but you'll see some traffic too, just put the backlink in the signature.

VAs usual have access to to several paid blog networks. The monthly cost of this access is more than the cost of the VA. I'd have him blast all these and get the double value for your money.

They usually have access to SENUKE and have been trained on it. Nukes don't get any cheaper than VA nukes. But be careful. All of the services can't drip the Nuke over time so you may get hundreds of links built in 1 1/2 hours. That maybe too much for your site.

I'd also ask the manager how long your type of tasks should take. A newbie will obviously take longer but I had one with 3 years of experience turn in 90 mins of work (takes me 15) with AMR and call it a day.

They will test you and get away with what they can. It is your responsibility to manage the VA. When you see something that doesn't seem right bring it to the attention of the general manager. Then he investigate it.

Set people that aren't good at computers on related forums. If they know anything about your niche, they can answer questions and contribute to topics. If not, just keep them in off topic threads... Remember to thank people/visit profiles as well.

If they're a little more proficient, then you can set them off to find the better threads to get on. Find related forums, find high PR topics/pages from the site and get on those pages somehow.. Again, thank people or visit the profiles off that page. (Since these are links to your profile, which contains the link to your website.)

Then... Anybody can do manual link building, start them on something easy like comments, answers, blogs and profiles, then build from there. They'll get the hang of it or get somebody that will.

I've also had people just write, an old boss hired a guy because she felt bad for him and it eventually turned into me giving him work. Naturally, he wound up writing. :p Eventually that piled up and I had about 50 unique articles from 400-2,000 words all keyword rich and relevant. I posted 400 words every couple days and just called it "Article Title - Part 1,2,3"
That content lasted for a looong time and did very well.

After that I sent him off to forums, creating blog comments, EDU/GOV links.. I basically just taught him how to do a few basic footprints to find places to drop links at. It worked out well, but the boss finally found what I knew all along... That there's tools I can use to replace him 1,000 times over. :p

You can make him do manual submission but you have to set campaign plan or else your site will suffer.
